SEMINAR ON INTERNSIP - Phase IIPreparation of Detailed Project Report for upgradation of Haveri to Baindur Section of NH- 766 C in the state of Karnataka to two / four lane with paved shoulder configuration (Package no- NH/IAHE/24)PROJECTS UNDER WHICH I WORKEDIn the absence of a well-developed highway, presently, all goods carrying vehicles going to the port of Mangalore proceed via Shimoga, taking a more circuitous route involving extra travel through forest area, wild life sanctuaries and hilly terrain. Thus there is a long-felt need to provide a more direct link to Hubli- Dharwad and other parts of northern Karnataka to Mangalore port with a National HighwayIt is appreciated that over a horizon of next 20-30 years, this road will serve a critical purpose of linking Mangalore and mining areas of Bellary and Hospet thus contributing substantially towards development of the local economy.PROJECT DESCRIPTIONSURVEY LOCATION MAP

Enhanced safety and level of service for the road users.Superior operation and maintenance enabling enhanced operational efficiency of the Project Highway.Minimal adverse impact on the local population and road users due to road constructionMinimal adverse impact on environmentMinimal additional acquisition of land.

Distresses are noted at 200m length interval. The extent of each distress has been visually estimated in terms of percentage area affected and then average area affected for full length of road is calculated.

This survey was carried out to find out the vehicle damage factor of the project corridor , which gives average pavement loading information and helps in road management and pavement design.Survey was carried out for 12 hours at 2 locations, Yellur and Karanagiri.
