INTRODUCTION

Doordarshan is a public broadcast terrestrial Channel run by Prasarbharati.

Doordarshan Kendra, Silchar was inaugurated on the 13th oct. 1990.

Its past name was All India radio and it was separated from All India radio in 1976.

Doordarshan Kendra Silchar has up linking frequency 6.0565 GHz and downlinking frequency 3.8315 GHz.

INSAT-4B,Location 93.5° east.

STUDIO Doordarshan have their own

shooting studio and studio hall is used to shoot various programmes.

Studio hall contains many devices for shooting. Like lighting , microphone, makeup room, Furniture, Cameras and sound absorbers.

DD Silchar produce their own programmes like “KALYANI” and “KHABRE KHETI KI "and also “EMLOYMENT NEWS” in this studio.

I. Studio A (Main)II. Studio B (News) In studio A is required four cameras. Studio A is use for recording of

programmes and other activities. In studio B is required two cameras. Studio B is use for News recording &

regional transmission.

TELEVISION LIGHTING

A Doordarshan studio has three basic lights ;-

Key light – This is the principal light source of illumination. It is hard light which provides shining on the front part of objects.

Fill light – It controls the lighting contrast by filling in shadows.

Back light – It separate the objects from the background .

ACOUSTIC SYSTEM It is derived from a Greek word akoustos which means “hearing”.It is use to prevent sounds from it’s echo.In doordarshan studio , all the sound must have to be done Acoustic treatment to preserve the originality of the sound along with extending maximum pleasure to the listener.

CAMERA

A TV camera consist of three section.

I. Optical part - To form optical image.

II. Transducer - To convert optical image in to electrical signal.

III. Electronic part - To process output of a transducer to get a ccvs (colour composit video signal).

In doordarshan Kendra Silchar VHF Solid State NEC(JAPAN) TV transmitter is used.

It is a digital transmitter. Its power rating is 10 kw. The main parts of the transmitter

EARTH STATION Earth Station is the unit from where

programme signal is sent to the satellite (uplink) and Programme signal transmitted by the satellite is received at the earth station (downlink).

DDK silchar has channel 5 and channel 11. For channel 5 (i.e. DD-NATIONAL) visual

frequency is 175.25 MHz and aural frequency is 180.75 MHz.

For channel 11(i.e. DD-NEWS) visual frequency is 217.25 MHz and aural frequency is 222.75 MHz.
