The heart is a vital organ, that is responsible for for pumping oxygen rich blood, and the blood gives oxygen to the body and the body cells take the oxygen from the blood.
What is the heart ?
★ The blood starts at the heart in the right atrium
★ then the blood pushes the tricuspid valve open
★ the blood goes to the right ventricle to get pumped to the lungs
Blood Circulation Part 1
★ The oxygen rich blood goes through the left atrium
★ the blood then goes to the left mitral valve and into The left ventricle.
★ The blood gets pumped to the body★ The body cells take the oxygen from
the blood★ Then when the blood is out of oxygen
it starts this cycle all over again. this is called the circulation of blood.
Blood circulation part 2
-The heart has three layers.The outer fluid filled sac layer is called the pericardium{It is Double layered membrane that cushions the heart helps the heart prevent friction}
-The middle layer is the muscle-The inner layer is called the endocardium.{the inner tissue of the heart.}
The Layers of the Heart
The left side of the heart receives the blood with lots of oxygen. the blood fills up the atrium and builds pressure to open the mitral valveThe mitral valve is there to keep blood going one directionThen the blood goes to the aortic valve.The aortic valve does the same thing as the mitral valve.
Left valves
After the blood goes in the right atrium there is there is the tricuspid valve. How that Works.First the depleted blood goes into the Right atrium. When it is filled, the tricuspid valve opens up and lets the blood through to the right ventricle.Then the blood goes up the pulmonary valve. The valves open and close so the blood goes 1 direction.
Right Valves
The Four Valves
❖ The most common heart disease is called coronary artery disease.
(When your coronary artery. gets narrowed by plaque. [plaque is waxy stuff.) So the heart can’t get enough blood.It causes:❏ chest pains❏ And most commonly HEART ATTACKS!!!❖ cardiovascular disease is like coronary arteryIt causes:❏ plaque❏ It can cause blood clots(blood clots can cause heart attacks or stroke)
Heart disease
How heart attacks happenThe most common way of heart attacks is coronary artery disease.heart does not pump In a heart attack the heart doesn’t pump for more than 20 minutesIf it’s not treated the muscle stops pumping and diesIndications:● Upper body pains● Cold Sweat● Nausea● Puking● Trouble Breathing
How to prevent a heart attack
1.Aerobatic Exercising is a great way to prevent a heart attack from happening{normal exercising is also fine}
2.Don’t smoke3.Have a healthy the blood pressure4.Have a healthy diet
Heart Diagrams
★ Your heart is about the size of your fist.★ Your heart is slightly to the left of the middle of
your 2 lungs.★ The ventricles are the main pump of the heart.★ The septum is a layer that separates the 2
ventricles and atriums.★ Your heart is a vital organ
Fun Facts
The central idea: Systems have structures and processes which interact to sustain life.Our project connects the unit because the heart has an important system and structures that help the system and processes which we need to sustain life.By:● pumping blood to the rest of our body● and pumps oxygen and nutrients● The blood that the heart pumps is full of oxygen which the body needs
