CCE TOOLS
Workbook
English First workbooks contain exhaustive exercises based on each concept module of grammar and vocabulary covered in the coursebook. Exercise types include matching, filling blanks, rewriting sentences, completing passages and many more. Each workbook unit corresponds closely to a concept module in the coursebook. This ensures that the workbook is an extension of the coursebook in a true sense.
In addition to exercises the workbook features two simple reading passages meant both to break monotony and to test comprehension. This CCE edition of the workbook includes two model test papers for summative assessment.
Clear instructions and focused exercises make the workbook easily accessible to both students and teachers. It offers a rigorous and stimulating learning experience and promotes gradual learner autonomy.
Supplementary Reader
The supplementary reader plays an important role in creating an appetite for reading in children. Rich with exquisite pieces from traditional and contemporary literature from around the world, the supplementary reader also features questions to test comprehension and activities to promote learning beyond the book.
The texts in the supplementary reader have simple themes and language and are suitable for the target age group. Though most texts have been adapted or abridged, rich literary language has been maintained in some cases to retain the original flavour.
The selection includes various genres like fairy tales, local legends, short stories, poems and plays, complemented by colourful, attractive and insightful illustrations. The activities in each unit both relate thematically to the text and guide children to facts and ideas outside the textbook, supplementing the co-scholastic component of learning.
