The Basic PowerPoint

Here’s a very brief idea of how PowerPoint works, with a quick PMI included.

PowerPoint

• PowerPoint allows us to create a digital slide show that we can use as a visual aid while addressing a group about virtually any topic.

• Although most commonly used within schools and business meetings, PowerPoint can be a very handy tool to help engage an audience wherever a person has access to a computer and a projection screen.

The PowerPoint Plusses

• Extremely simple to use• Allows whoever is presenting control over the speed of

their slides• Enables simple but effective text use to engage a wide

audience• Can be embedded with various multimedia (videos,

hyperlinks etc)

The PowerPoint Minuses

• Has been so popular that it is almost cliché and can therefore struggle in engaging an audience for long periods of time.

• Does not allow a lot of interaction directly from the audience

• Can essentially become a glorified whiteboard when used ineffectively

The Interesting side of PowerPoint

• Can now be used as PowerPoint Online, enabling a much more interactive experience through the embedding of websites, blogs, wikis

• Is the once “cliché” PowerPoint adapting?
