This is the double page spread of ‘Hip Hop Weekly’ magazine. The main images are of Chris Brown and Rihanna which therefore dominate the left page of the double- paged spread, indicating to the reader what the article will be talking about as there is a caption “ Chris Brown & Rihanna: Friends with benefits?” automatically making us assume what the article is going to be discussing and drawing us onto the page. The article has been laid out to look very conventional and interesting. The headline used is in sans serif capital letters, making t stand out before every ones eyes as it is red and bold. Chris Brown and Rihanna are successful artists in the hip hop industry and this is why their names are big and bold and tell the audience who the main artists are going to be in the magazine.

The artists are not looking directly at the camera suggesting the photo was taking by paparazzi’s. Rihanna’s clothing connotes with the house style of the genre of the magazine as her style reflects hip hop clothing. Chris Brown clothing of gold chains etc also suggest it is reflecting hip hop genre, especially the gold chain as stereotypically these are associated with many rappers. Rihanna’s body language suggest she is trying to cover herself from the media as her hand is raised up and the fact they are both wearing sunglasses states likewise.

The use of this rhetorical question creates enigma for the audience drawing attention to the article even more as it makes the audience intrigued in the friends with benefits enigma.
