Inclusive EntrepreneurshipIn August we announced our diversity commitment as part of White House Demo Day We are working hard to increase the number of women and underrepresented minorities in our applicant pool and across our mentor network We are also taking steps towards increasing the number of underrepresented minorities across all of our programs We have added women to our selection committees and are publishing our diversity data annually
In September we launched the Techstars Foundation - a nonprofit created to improve diversity in technology entrepreneurship by
providing opportunities for underrepresented entrepreneurs through grants scholarships and sponsorships
Diversity is one of our top five strategic goals in 2016 and we have galvanized the company to push over 65 initiatives and projects forwardTechstars is committed to having a meta-impact on diversity in tech startups through leadership on this important issue Through our network of hundreds of companies and startup programs worldwide we have a massive opportunity to influence this on a large scale
In June Techstars announced the acquisition of UP Global Techstars and UP Global have had a long-standing relationship dating back to 2007 when the idea for Startup Weekend was borne out of the Techstars basement in Boulder CO Since June weve been integrating our efforts to better serve the complete Entrepreneurs Journey
We are committed to the lifelong impact that entrepreneurs have on the world no matter where they choose to live Together were supporting more entrepreneurs in more places and in more stages of their growth In 2016 and beyond we will leverage each others areas of expertise and combine resources to provide more sustainable support for communities and the entrepreneurs within them
