COMMUNICATIONS THAT WIDEN STUDENT HORIZONS

Education. It’s not something meant to reform a student, to amuse them or to make them an expert technician. The goal of education is to unsettle the student mind, to inflame their intellects and teach them to teach themselves.

That’s what TALKCAMPUS is all about. Combining the knowledge of highly credited student life professionals with contemporary communication experts, TALKCAMPUS is proud to offer a variety of educational tools, seminars, workshops, curriculums and speaking engagements that can help improve the quality of student learning at your institution.

This catalogue features TALKCAMPUS communications that you can order for your institution.

Developed in conjunction with Student Life professionals, TALKCAMPUS POSTERS and BUTTONS tackle relevant student life issues and provide Universities and Colleges with a new medium, specifically targeting students, age 18- 24.

These tools can be used to:

• Generate dialogue between students. • Create opportunities for educators to address relevant student life issues.

VANDALISM

Vandalism is a unique issue facing Student Life professionals. Both an issue of security and financial responsibility, TALKCAMPUS addresses the issue in a way students will respond to.

“The simplistic creativity of the pictures provides students with a powerful message that they can relate to.”

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL

Drug use and responsible drinking are issues not unique to student life, but ones that demand a unique approach. TALKCAMPUS worked closely with Student Life Professionals to develop these posters for their specific needs.

“Drinking is a touchy issue that TALKCAMPUS has handled in an intelligent and effective manner.”

COMMUNICATION

Maybe the most important issue facing Student Life Professionals. So many other issues can be dealt with, if only the lines of communication between students and their peers and counsellors are open.

“The posters convey useful, dynamic and encouraging messages, allowing for their incorporation into various programming endeavors.”

COMMON SENSE / FORESIGHT

A unique issue facing Student Life Professionals is the problem of dealing with students living away from home for the first time. Sometimes they need a subtle reminder that they are responsible for themselves and their friends.

“Students can easily reduce their security and the security of their belongings if they do not recognize their responsibilities withrespect to safety.”Heather LaneDirector, Student Housing ServicesUniversity of Guelph and President of CACUSS

COMMUNITY

One of the best ways to ensure the efficient delivery of quality higher education programs and services is to help students understand the importance of community. A sense of belonging and the confidence

that comes with feeling like you are a part of something is a key to every student’s success.

DIVERSITY BUTTONS

Everyone is a little different. And Diversity buttons are a great way to spread that word that it’s our differences that make us interesting. Diversity buttons are powerful tool you can use to illustrate that we all make assumptions when we look into a persons face. By recognizing the judgments through the different faces on the buttons, students will be better able to reduce judgment of others when first meeting them.

“These buttons are the greatest thing since POGS.”Sheila SampathStudent
