DESCRIPTION
Final Year ProjectTRANSCRIPT
Introduction
• To study the planning of the 3G network that provides optimum topology.
• To investigate the planning of handover which the network
service provider satisfy their customers with good quality of
signal.
• To identify the W-CDMA is best choice for implementation of
soft handover.

• Cellular phone networks have been growth in their usage due to
the widespread improvements in 3G technologies.
• People always expect to have high quality connectivity at all times.
In order to provide the good service, handover is essential for
consistent communication.
• In a W-CDMA cellular network, the soft handover is used to share
same frequency within same cell.
Simulation
• Forsk Atoll 2.8.0 software is used for radio network planning
and optimisation.
• The planning process starts by import digital map. Then, the
software itself calculate the location altitude.
• The digital map divided into several hexagonal cells, and
placed the BTS in required location. Then, the handover status
simulation run by calculation.
The figures show the simulation result by using Forsk Atoll
software.

Result & Discussion
Conclusion• The handover planning had been achieved the criteria
stated of this project. In this project, the goal is to planning
handover with good signal strength. The value of signal
strength ranging from -80dBm to -100dBm, which
considered as good signal strength.
• Soft handover used by the W-CDMA standards, so that a
cell phone is simultaneously connected to two or more cells
during a call.
• From this handover planning the network service provider
satisfy their customers with good quality of signal. This
design can be applicable in urban area, sub-urban or open
area.
