Technical Session I with the theme Downstream 4.0- Smart Manufacturing & Digital Transformation was chaired by Dr. Sanjeev S Katti, Ph.D., M.B.A, Director General, ONGC Energy Center. The speakers were Mr. Harikrishnan Shankaranarayanan, Managing Director, Resources, Accenture who informed about 'Realising Digital Dividends'. He spoke about the improvement of Efficiency & effectiveness. Manufacturing Operation management 1.0 means getting right thing on the right time to the right person. He suggested to become energy efficient in order to reduce carbon footprints. Safety incidents are likely to happen in order to avoid any mis happening. Mr. T.S. Park, Head of Optimism, Aveva Information Technology spoke on 'Digital Value Chain Optimization'. Refinery means producing Gasoline division. But in future, it will be the plan to produce the feedstock for the petrochemicals. It will be a big shift in the near future. He told that optimization of technology is the way of survival in the industry. The way of doing the business is changed by optimizing the digital value chain. Mr. Akshay Gupta, Business Development Manager- Connected Performance Services, Honeywell UOP deliberated on 'Leveraging IIoT to drive Operational Excellence & Profitability in Refining & Petrochemicals Industry'. He bought forth example of dashboard system processes which have benefitted companies to the tune of upto 500 million dollars per annum each. With such integration in planning, scheduling, operations, maintenance, asset management, marketing, these all can work in an integrated model in both for the operator as well as the decision maker. Example of supply chain management system putting smart implementation processes into broader projects itself would bring an end to end solutions for the projects to come by.

Smt. Vartika Shukla, Executive Director (Technical), Engineers India Limited chaired the Technical Session II in which New Pathways of Refinery & Petrochemicals Integration were discussed. The Speaker Mr. Rajesh Samarth, Vice President Of Lummus Technology informed about 'Refinery Pivot Points in a Refinery – Petrochemical Integrated Complex'.
