Knowledge Management Officer

ContextCooperatives of the Americas (formerly ACI-Americas) is the regional representation of the International Cooperative Alliance for the Americas.

The Regional Office of the Americas was established in 1990 in San José, Costa Rica. Its main objective is to "promote the repositioning of the cooperative model in the new economic, political, social and commercial environment by supporting member organizations of the Alliance in the Americas in the dissemination and defense of cooperative identity, the promotion of business and development of human resources ". The Regional Office is the link between the cooperatives of the American continent and the global network, which facilitates their participation in specialized networks allowing them to get involved with the sector of their interest. In addition, it is responsible for implementing the decisions taken by the regional political bodies of Cooperatives of the Americas and executing the development projects. Principale roles and responsabilities

The Knowledge Management Officer will work under the administrative guidelines of the ICA-EU project, with the following main functions:

• Promote and lead the creation and implementation of a knowledge management strategy within the project "Cooperatives in development: people centered business in action".• Ensure that the lessons learned, experiences and best practices of the project are documented and disseminated opportunely and systematically among the members of Cooperative of the Americas and the other regional offices of ICA.• Implement the knowledge management strategy and the dissemination of project information, in close coordination with the Communications Officer, the rest of the project team and the Regional Director of Cooperatives of the Americas.• Assure the necessary conditions to create and implement, in the Americas region, the “Cooperative Institute for Knowledge Development” on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.• Train a group of selected experts and provide advice and solutions to the Regional Director on political or economic regional problems on the cooperative sector.• Advise the Regional Director in the preparation of the Strategic Plan for Cooperatives of the Americas 2020-2030 for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations for Sustainable Development.• Prepare an effective and innovative strategy for the visibility of the project that allows the correct knowledge management.

Person Sepecifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in communication, journalism, knowledge management, business administration , public administration, international cooperation projects, or a related field.• Minimum of 2-3 year (s) of experience in the communications / knowledge management sector in international cooperation projects worked in the cooperative sector or in the civil society sector of the EU, preferably with a focus on development and / or in an international organization.• Basic design and publishing skills are required, especially for interacting with Adobe Creative Suite's InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.• Excellent management of social networks and information distribution platforms.• Demonstrated experience in knowledge management• Excellent command of Spanish, written and verbal.• Personality centered on people and optimal natural attitude in communicating and giving visibility to the results acquired using social networks.• Good presentation, writing and negotiation skills, including the ability to prepare dissemination articles for different audiences, impact reports of events and reports of activities to strengthen the transfer of information and knowledge with project beneficiaries.• Be a citizen of a Country of the Americas Region or of an EU State.• Available for trips throughout the Americas and, finally, other regions of the International Cooperative Alliance.

Desirable

• Very good command of English, written and verbal.• Knowledge of EU funding procedures and guidelines.• Demonstrated experience in creating knowledge management strategies with civil society organizations.• Full familiarity with word processing applications, spreadsheets and project financial programming• Command of the other languages of the French / Portuguese region
