Position Description Domestic Family Violence Intensive Case Worker HR – DOC – Position Description Page 1 Domestic Family Violence Intensive Case Worker Location/s Co-ordinated High Risk Response team (CHaRRT) Rockhampton Reporting to Team Leader / Coordinator Direct Reports Nil Level C – As per the Relationships Australia (Qld) Enterprise Agreement 2014 Date Updated December 2016 About the Role The purpose of this position is to provide short term specialist family violence case co-ordination, crisis counselling intervention and in-depth assessment of the impact of domestic and family violence on individuals, their families and significant other, taking a “Lead Role” that initiates high risk assessments and safety responses between identified partner agencies through case discussion. Key Responsibilities Program Specific Responsibilities Receive CHaRRT referrals from specialist family violence agencies and seek additional information (if required) to make an assessment of suitability of referral to proceed to CHaRRT. Provide feedback to referring agency on status of suitability. Contribute to the risk assessment and safety action planning for the CHaRRT. Schedule urgent CHaRRT meetings in a timely manner in conjunction with the core members of CHaRRT. Monitor ongoing risk for all active CHaRRT cases by; taking a lead role in the case coordination of all cases at CHaRRT Maintain a close relationship with the referring specialist DFV service providers (who are engaged with the families for the duration of CHaRRT involvement; Follow up on outstanding items identified by the specialist DFV service provider during their monitoring of safety action plans. Provide feedback at CHaRRT meetings in relation to the status of existing CHaRRT cases including completion of safety action plan items Provide crisis interventions to families who have been affected by domestic and family violence, using appropriate theoretical frameworks Provide families affected by domestic and family violence with information on all options available to them and their children, providing them with referral and assistance with their chosen option and advocate on their behalf where requested. Network and develop collaborative relationships with relevant government organisations and community agencies with the aim of successfully linking victims, person using violence, children, young people to other relevant support services. Work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mentors and co-facilitators where appropriate, to develop the program to be culturally inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. Safety plan for families, in giving urgent attention in terms of the best responses for family and extended family when they are not currently in the safest option for them Duty of Care Conduct client assessment of needs when completing an intake. Provide information, support and referral to victims and their families in relation to their presenting needs

Maintain confidentiality and duty of care, including identification of domestic and family violence and suicidality.

Service Delivery Requirements

Achieve the organisation’s targets for caseload and complete client sessions as designated for the program

Maintenance of appropriate files and case notes as per organisational policies and procedures

Meet legislative and funding requirements

A commitment to supervision and professional development.

Administrative Maintain computer based diary management system to enable effective and informed client bookings

At times assist with the provision of administrative duties, which may include reception, telephone, resource filing and general office duties.

About You To be successful in this position you will have:

Required Highly Desired

Qualifications Undergraduate Qualification in social or Behavioural Science

Post Graduate Qualification in Behavioural Science

Experience Experience, and theoretical knowledge of, task centred crisis intervention in a variety of settings, e.g. individuals, couples, children, young people, families and groups

Experience in managing caseloads

Experience within community development

Project work

Crisis support services

Knowledge

Knowledge and application of relevant legislation and regulations, specifically the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act, and an understanding of the Family Law Act

Knowledge of theories regarding power, intimacy and sexuality

Skills Interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

Excellent time management

Ability to work with diverse groups such as young people, women, people with an intellectual disability, Aboriginal people, Torres Strait Islanders, and people from different socio economic backgrounds

Competency in computer use (Microsoft Office, email and ability to learn new programs).
