NATURE & FORM STUDIESStudy an element in nature, identify its tangible & intanglible attributesand translate it to a 2D symbol & its 3D form.

Chosen natural being : The Albatross

THE ALBATROSS

Famous for dynamic soaring.Fly for 80,000 km without touching ground. They fly approx 3.7 million milesin a span of 50 years.

Most birds struggle to overcome wind, Albatrosses exploit it.

Large olfactory lobes.

Touch or clatter beaks is a form of greeting the mate.

Albatrosses, members of the family Diomedeidae, have 21 recognised species. They include the largest seabirds, with wingspans measuring over 3 m and have powerful beaks for capturing prey at the sea surface. Albatrosses are commonly found in the southern hemisphere from Antarctica to Australia, South Africa, and South America. Albatrosses are among the longest-lived birds. They are a sign of bad luck in a certain legend. But quite contrasting to that, the albatross is a symbol of strength, endurance, good luck in the Maori culture.

Study a chosen space keeping in mind its fuction, form, structural elements and the experience.

Case study: Arthur Road Centrail Jail, Mumbai

Design a contemporary prison at the current site of my case study.

To introduce more green by adding terraced gardenswhich will serve as a means of recreation.

To introduce larger dorms with ergonomicallyappropriate space per prisoner.

Overlapping geometrical floor plans to accomodate terraces/ open spaces.

JOINERIES USED : FINGER JOINT | TENON & MORTICE JOINT | WOODEN DOWEL JOINT | NUT & BOLT

SCULPTING

You know yourself better than anyone else because you have made nNobservations about yourself, subconsciously in numerous times.

Sculpture as a means to understand planes & surfaces in 3D.Self SculptureScale : 1:1Medium : Shadow ClayDuration : 2 weeks

Metal armature > wrap with wet coconut coir > make clay > fill clay > skull > planar surfaces > add flesh > details > hair > eyes > texture > finishing touches

BAKSATo make outdoor seating that would be placed in a semi-urban version of the Indian mela in our annual festival ‘Quasar’

Casual. Festive. Indian contemporary. Interactive.

Colour Palette : Energetic

INSPIRATION : Mango Crates

Explored irregular shapes that fit in a square like puzzle pieces.
