IRONMANThemematic sci-nature park

2010/11

Brno Diploma project

1 The location is situated in the microregion of Ivančice. This locality is very rich on cultural, natural and technical heritage. The viadukt built in the second half of 19th century following the french model and was used by the czech railway till the end of 70s. The proposal of the new sci-nature park is influenced by the simple idea of remembrance of the former bridge that was irreclaimably. This “fallen“structure reminds decision which determine a fate of this unique object and open a new chapter of this place. Visitors can start a tour from both ends of former viaduct. Exposition work mutualy and they can return via proposed footbrigde on the new viaduct or walk down and go through the valley around park. BRNO competition

Location of Extension Gösta Serlachius Fine arts Foundation is result of studies of the territory, current buildings placed on that and all related historical , environmental and cultural significances. Harmonics connection of Joenniemi manor and the surrounding park create strong historical and art legacy of the place with and effort of original owners. Solitary position of Taavetinsaari in the landscape, its distance from shore of mainland, good visual relation to manor, its surroundings and parking plus advantageous connection to original ways and new ones as well make the island Taavetinsaari suitable position to place new museum building. Final position is based on mergence architectural, functional and landscape aspects. Idea of usage of the new building like a bridge, usage water surface with part of island like landscape scenery of atrium in the new building and simple service connection to the each function of the museum required chosen location connecting island with the cape. Museum is next solitaire in net of current buildings of the cape. Thanks to the distance and connection to the original symmetrical plant-lined paths leading to manor is achieved harmonic coexistence Joenniemi manor, its surroundings and new museum.

Architectural features are based on functional requirements of circulation motion of visitors in exhibition area. Also sizes of all functions including in the museum, lighting and harmony with the landscape influence the shape and architectural features of the building. Circulation motion is used like main concept of primary part of the museum. Infers circle form of outer coat. Requirements to lighting lead to creation of atrium. Its shape is formed by inserted functions which have different sizes. The different sizes generate curved shape of the atrium. Increasing height of the ring from entrance to its opposite side is based on different requirements of each function placed in the ring. The museum is arched from island to the mainland over the cove of the lake Melasjärvi. The building is carry by support plate with pillars. The shape of plate with pillars is designed according to the shape of liquid between two solid boards. Exterior facades are made by glass boards with increased reflective effect. The surrounding landscape is reflected in the exterior facades. Interior spaces are glassed-in to the atrium except the part of exhibition areas for paintings. Atrium includes a sculpture placed on the pillar of original bridge led from mainland to island. The pillar together with the sculpture is on axis manor – entrance – foyer – sculpture.

Page 13: portfolio mosler

Concept of the new gallery is based on circle fl ow. Manor is kept as a main dominant of the area

The circle is moved towards the manor and creates connection. The land and water atrium is created. Enviroment along the circle is changing.

GRANARY 2010

BRNO competition

Cultural and bussines centre

Key issue of the old granary is illumination by natural light. From this situation benefits concept and trying to lights up the entire building as much as possible. Where wall is thinnest there will be more skylights than on the bottom of building where wall wider is. Positions of skylighs naturally determine how interior spaces are divided. Functions like multifunctional hall or workshops places are using spaces on top of the building where skylights distributes more natural light and on other hand where illumination is not strong, are presentations rooms, archive and storages. Outside of the building is Aeolus harp which using wind flow as a musician and attract passing people to come closer. This symbolic object is the key to creating a mystical atmosphere around the building.

3 „Bridge+Hostel=Mostel“

The Bridge Hostel is a response to the large number of vacant and unused spaces beneath flyovers and bridges. The Mostel is a place for homeless people to stay overnight. The site should operate in an organized way and provide shelter for those trying to reintegrate into society. It is located in a remote place not far from an incineration plant, on a public transport route from Brno Main Railway Station. Under the bridge there is a railway siding leading to the incarnation plant, and at a set time it would bring these “tenants” from the station. The Mostel is designed to be build at minimal cost, using the least expensive materials and construction. Sponsors could be approached with the offer of promoting them on the building’s walls.

HIGH BRIDGE 2009/10

BR NO comp.

5 CULTURE CENTRE -

Same like flowing river reflects for centuries landscape, people, rush and also the aqueduct. So a “obvious” next step and link with the current state is simple reflexion in an old abandoned High bridge. This new function-mass is aiming to revive this place, make available to people, reflecting the atmosphere and spirit of history. The whole structures easily takes basic scale and proportions from physical existence of bridge and try to implement into new building. Contact with external environment still remains large openings one from Manhattan and second from Bronx banks. Next opening is from sky where comes light into building and it is also symbol of open mind for creative world. Building is divided into three main floors. Underground floor is situated where was the water pipe and now is for class rooms, administration, library and technical rooms. Middle floor is on the top of the bridge and it is use for pedestrian and bicycle paths. There are also entrances into the building. 3rd. floor is the biggest and there are exhibitions and workshops spaces.

Student relax spaceREBOX 2009

Brno coop. T Mokrý

6 Rebox is an interior adaptation for GYMNASIUM HADY.

It is situated in the main hall of gymnasium from where you go to classrooms, offices and hygienic facilities. The main aim of reconstruction is to bring more light, live and space where students can study in a relaxed environment at break time.

Rebox is built among huge columns. Outer shell responds to the rectangular space around it whereas the Rebox interior is plastic, playful and inspirational.

It offers several variants for sitting and lying. Also four computer places, working places and notebook places.

Space for snack preparing is situated on the hall side.

We believe that our design brings many positives to student everyday life.

Kvetná garden Kromeriz4SEASONS 2008/09

Brno Bachelor project

7 The cornerstone of project is the possibility of use Dutch garden as a public and accessible space at all times and for everyone all year round. Demolition of wall around Dutch garden creates new square and allows free movement into the space. Because the Květná garden was created for amusement and meditating so then I support this idea and propose for space of Dutch garden some sort of water labyrinth. Visitors are guided by this labyrinth to the Května garden entrances. Dutch garden is open all year round which means in every season is different atmosphere and this place is reacting on it. Important element was axis of views from building which helped with formation of openings and basic volumes. When visitors go through the buildings it can see only an important part of the Květná garden but they never get full panorama. So this attracts them to visit it. Succumb to temptation. People are lured by her and this old garden queen opens them their eyes to the inside of their own souls.

HUMAN PAVILION - PRAGXELLA 2008

HiPS 0.1 2008/09

FaVut coop. T. Mokrý

8 The concept of the human pavilion in Prague ZOO Troja has its origin in never-ending life and generation cycle. The curve creates two closed and interdependent circuits with different functions. It is leaning against the rock. It is adapting to the environment, but it doesn’t conform completely through what it creates main Zoo entrance. The coffee and spaces for counter staff are hidden inside the slope.

Entering the pavilion you get to the exposition space, which is open to any multimedia artist exhibition. This is flexible space. We also designed an exhibition program | HIPS.02 | for human pavilion. These two projects are really close related. They grew up together.

Through stairs we get into second part of the pavilion which is view point of Prague and the ZOO. Here visitors can leave the pavilion to the upper footpath or move down towards the main entrance.

The amphitheatre is made by first circle. It is a place for projection and other performing activities. Multimedia tubes, which react on data from internet, create the facade of pavilion. They change color and intensity. Atmosphere is different each time. Man created internet and thus internet gives life to human pavilion.

EMBASSY FOR BRUSSELQATAR 2007/08

GENT coop. M. Vanková, M. Bílková

9 The Qatar embassy for Brussel have three main elements:1. Concept of middle east settlement2. Compactness of inner disposition3. Structure - Research of islamic ornaments

The Qatar embassy is based on the scheme of typical Islamic house – the walled house. It means relatively high walls and lack of openings to the public. This influenced the form. The embassy represents a closed wall-like building from outside but an open inward looking structure to the courtyard. The most important element is the light defining the crystal structure of the skylights. The configuration of the spaces introduces into the building a movement of never-ending spiral. It flows through the different functions of the embassy proceeding the public spaces to more and more private and less accessible by the public ...to the top point where is the ambassador’s suite, the only one connection to the outside.

WPGcwater power plant and cafeteria

2006

FaVut

10The water power plant is situated on the bank of river Svitava flowing through the city of Brno. The technical equipment of a power plant standing there today should be remained on the original place. The proposal should include a café that might attract people going around the park or passing along the river. The form of the building is trying to find the analogy between the water life and a building standing on the ground. The function of the café is creating the connection between a purely technical building and a place where people like to relax.
