“Technology is more than hardware. Technology consists of the designs and the environments
that engage in learning.”
The word “technology” comes from t he Greek word techne which means craft or art. The term
educational technology based on etymology refers to the art or craft of responding to our
educational needs.
What is educational
technology?
Educational technology is a very broad term, it is the
application of scientific findings in our method , a process or procedure of working in the field of education in
order to effect learning.
What is educational
technology?
It embraces curriculum and design ,learning environment ,theories of teaching-learning. It
is the use of all human inventions for teachers to
realize to realize their mission to teach in order that students
learn.
What is educational
technology?
“technology is in our hands. We can use it build
or destroy”
“Technology can be fascinating and mind-
blogging, in what in can do. It can bring distant places and
people together. It can transform societies,
economies and cultures by opening them up the other
ideas and other options, raising new expectations and creating new needs but the
fact remains unless the technology and all other agents and factors of
modernization are invested with the human values and
used for the social good, then they will be a little more than
expensive toys for the amusement of a few.”
(Fidel V. Ramos, 1997)
Technology: Boon or Bane?
Technology is a blessings for man. With the use of
technology, there’s a lot of things we can do, which we could not do then, however the value of it depends upon
the perception of the users on how they see and use it.
The technology is boon when they use it properly and
wisely, on the other hand bane when not used properly, technology become detriment to learning and development.to those who abusively use it.
Technology: Boon or Bane?
Aside from parents, the teachers are also
responsible in guiding the learners in the proper use of technological devices in
the teaching learning process.
Integration of technology in education should help promote actual learning process.

The roles of educational technology.
TRADITIONAL WAY
• As delivery vehicles for instructional lessons.
• Technology serves as a source and presenter of knowledge.
• Assumes that knowledge is embedded in the technology.
CONTRUCTIVIST WAY
• As partner in the learning process.• It engage learner in active,
constructive, intentional, authentic and cooperative learning.
• Provides opportunities for technology and learner interaction form meaningful learning.
1. Technology as tools to support knowledge construction:
*For presenting learner’s ideas, understanding and beliefs.
*For producing organized, multimedia knowledge bases by learners.
2. Technology as information vehicles for exploring knowledge to support learning-by-constructing:
*For accessing needed information.*For comparing perspectives,
beliefs, and

3. Technology as context to support learning-by-doing:
*For representing and stimulating meaningful real world problems, situations and contexts
*For representing beliefs, perspective, arguments, and stories of others.
4. Technology as a social medium to support learning by conversing:
*For discussing, arguing and building consensus among members of a community
*For supporting discourse among knowledge-building communities

CONSTRUCTIVISIM
GENERATIVE LEARNING
Students perform tasks to uncover what is to be learned. New ideas and new decisions are generated in the learning process, regardless of the need to move on and depart from the structural lesson previously set.
Gives focus to new experience that departs from the learning as a sequence of words.
Conceptual model of Learning
DISCOVERY LEARNING
MEANINGFUL LEARNING
Learning build a personal understanding through appropriate learning activities and a good learning environment.
Active learners who attend to learning events, and generate meaning from this experience and draw inferences thereby creating a personal model of explanation to the new experience in the context of existing knowledge.
Learning through Ed. Tech. 2• Educational Technology 2 is concerned
primarily with “Integrating Technology into Teaching and Learning”.
• Necessarily will involve a deeper understanding about the computer as well as hands-on application of computer skills.
• This skill is one of the skills that we must have as a future teacher since we are about to teach the 21st Century Learners where these learners are exposed in a more high-tech materials or simply they are updated with the modern inventions and discoveries like computers, laptops, tablets, phones, etc.
Learning through Ed. Tech. 2
As a future Teachers we must have to develop these skills through extensive practice and analysis of the 21st century learner. Meaning to say as a future teacher, we must be flexible enough to adapt to these changes, we must be also computer-literate or computer expert because nowadays the classrooms are changing. From Traditional (Teacher- Dominated) to CAI (Computer Assisted Instruction/Student Centered Learning). Most of the classrooms, as we can see, teachers are using laptops, projectors, white screen, etc. in teaching and facilitating.
Learning through Ed. Tech. 2
We are blessed that we've learned a lot from this subject not just about the information or ideas but on how we can apply what we learned in the real world, and to the hands on activities because someday, in the field of education, where we are about to teach, we can use this knowledge and skills in becoming a better and effective teacher.
Learning through Ed. Tech. 2
In every activity that we have, more on to hands- on application of computer in the teaching and learning process. We are having computer works, etc. With this we can easily retain what we have learned in EDTC 2 because we are involved in such a great activity. Remember the Dale’s Cone of Experience.
We are not only on theory but more on experienced.
The Educational technology subject is a necessary subject for us, a future educator because we are in the new Mellineal and even the curriculum changes according to the ages of the generation . What we learned , we know that we can apply this in our field and the skills that we develop particularly computer skill which enhances the teaching and learning through technology integration contributes to our quality in becoming globally competitive teachers.
Student After Ed Tech
Since EDTC 2 has something to do with our computer skills, it must be clear to everyone that computers cannot replace the teachers. No matter what modern technology we have, “Teachers are teachers”. Computers are devices/things that need the assistance/manipulation of Teachers (Human). Teachers must continue the role of information deliverer and learning environment controller.
