weemowIn this fast world, where time is so valuable, robots are becom-ing part of our lives to help us in an everyday basis. Considering people´s needs at home and with the collaboration of Robotic En-gineers we created WEEMOW, a completely automatic landmower.

When the final design was stablished, this design was modeled CAD. The 3d mod-el was later manufactured in a CNC router machine. The physical model was sand-ed and was used to make a fiberglass mold. With this mold the final fiberglass model was made. Finally, the prototype was painted and the electronic parts were added.

WEEMOW is a completely automatic landmower that revolutionizes the current landomowers. With the help of a GPS and sensors, it moves through the garden without the need of a per-son guiding. The user pro-grams WEEMOW through a computer program and WEEMOW does the rest. It´s light communicates to the user what the robot is doing.

Los DukesToday, delicious food is not enough. Design has to be im-plied. In association with Los Duke´s owner, we used design to bring a unique environ-ment and service to this local Tex-Mex Monterrey restaurant. Creating a great place for the young people of today.

target groupYoung people 18 to 26 years old. People that like to live their independence, enjoy life, and party.

extened target group

There’s two ex-tended target groups. The first group are teens 14 to 17 years old that try to grow in a fast pace. The sec-ond group are young adults 27 to 32 years old that refuse to grow up.

Final ConceptConsidering all the users, and learning about their life-styles we found they had several needs in common, they searched for: fun and socializing, managing time, technology and taste. Taking these needs into ac-count and the global trends we created a modern/coun-try restaurant bar. We want-ed Los Dukes to inspire a unique sensation to it´s us-ers. We created this feeling by combining two oposites: the country look that would make users feel they travel back in time, and the mod-

ern tecnology that would link this concept to our times, making it atractive to all our target groups and the rest of our users (waiters, cooks, managers, etc.)

Food DesignLos Dukes does not only serve food, it interacts with the user and becomes part of their life. The food is marked to give food iden-tity and make it unique. The packaging is designed to express what being at Los Dukes represents: fun, great taste, and “going back into time.¨

The furniture and interior design was created to reflect a modern wester feeling. The restaurant is designed to be interactive. There´s a “wall of fame” where clients can hang their pic-ture taken at Los Dukes (or they can downolad it from internet). There´s also a wall of bottle caps, where clients can add their bottle caps consumed to leave their mark at Los Dukes and contribute decorating.

After a through investigation and form exploration oys-ter’s shape was defined the elaboration process started. The design was drawn into the wax using a compass to make sure it was symetrical. It was carved in hard wax and sanded until perfectly smooth. The model was casted using the lost wax technique. After the cast, the silver ring was filed and sanded to remove imperfec-tions. The pearl was set into the ring. Finally, the ring was

buffered and polished.
