MY DESIGN ETHOS

Sustainability can be used as a marketing tool my many, but it is inherent to my collections and runs through the veins of my designs. A design that is worth keeping cannot be designed, mass produced and delivered to the consumer in a week. My philosophy is about quality not quantity, limited editions not excessive availability. Each step of my design development journey is considered to engender longevity, and as such takes time to create, like a peace of art, in the aspiration that it is cherished.

NATURE

The natural world of ‘flora’ is a source of beauty that holds so much potential for exploration, which changes based on both the habitat and the season. I am inspired by the shapes, the untamed nature of growth and the depth and variety of colours present. I connect with the nature through interacting with it through my photography, drawing from life, and arrangement of natural subjects.

Architecture, much like nature has withstood the test of time, and is still admired in society today. I am particularly inspired my historic architecture, focussing on the immense detail that contributed to the quality of the buildings. The Santa Maria del Fiore took over 140 years to complete, which highlights the quality and craftsmanship behind the design and making of the amazing building.

LAYERING

Layering is a way of refreshing garments, but takes confidence to do. Purposefully designing garments that work in synergy, through colour, shape and design co-ordination, means that ‘Changing Perceptions’ does the layering for you, for ultimate confidence.

PHOTOGRAPHYMy ProcessMy design process always starts with photography. It is fundamental in giving me inspiration in unexpected forms to aid my unique and original designs. My main subject is the natural world of ‘Flora’ combined with elements of historic architecture.

I have experimented with using photography as a drawing tool through creating still life compositions, adding a new dimension to my photos as well as my designs.

DRAWING & PAINTING

All of my designs are hand painted or hand drawn, with the aim of each design being comparable to a work of art, adding to their value and quality. The drawing are inspired by my photography and drawn with the print I want to create in mind.

PRINT DESIGN

Having painted the individual elements I then digitise them, allowing me to experiment further with scale, colour, placement and proportion on some of my prints to ensure high quality designs are created.

Using luxury fabrics to make each design feel like an

The Luxuriousness of digitally printing on silk, achieving the desired feel, drape and colour depth, giving my collection a higher perceived value.

COLLECTION PLANA collection of underlayer and overlayer garments which are specifically designed to layer in perfect unison, to update the look when worn together.

I undertook a photoshoot to capture my collection in a natural surrounding. Styled with models own dress and manipulated digitally to bring my samples to life.
