Development and Management of road system require huge investment which in turn requires identification of monitory resources.

Any investment decision requires full justification of the expenditure and there must be visible benefit. Hence a clear systematic technical

analysis is required before performing economic and financial analysis of the project.

HDM-4 is a reliable tool for doing systematic analysis of road projects bytesting alternative proposals both technically and economically. It requiresa series of inputs and generates a series of output (reports) for the benefitof the analyst but a major research input of calibration is required foradapting to the local conditions.

Rutting Measurement

• Rutting refers to permanent deformation on pavementsurface in the wheel path.

• Rutting is caused by structural and/or material failure thatcan lead to hazardous driving conditions

• The rut depth was measured with 2 m straight edge placedin transverse direction.

• Twelve observations randomly selected were carried outfor each road section. The maximum rut depth in mm wasnoted down in each observation.
