Process and inspiration

The core of creativity is in talent, method and energy.

90% of POLIMI projects are done by team work.Issues of working in team?

Slow start, lack of participation and ideas, domination of 1 or 2 persons, timescale, staying focused etc.

Our aim was to empower team work. improve the organisational skills and the motivation.

Organisational part is solved by creating the awareness of time, tasks and responsibility.

Motivation is suggested with engaging all team members to take part in ‘powering up’- charging the battery.

We identified lack of knowledge about team work and creative methods and technics.eddy is created to solve different situations and phases of creative process.

Understanding the problem, direction giving, generating concepts, freewheeling,development in research, making check lists or creating personal methods.

It gathers people and in a way it creates a work space anywhere indoors or outdoors far from energy supply.

It is good for time management and it supports the WLBalance.

EDDY. Its prupose is to create the energy > within the team > for the team.

It is composed of battery, 6 plugs, time reminder and the paper plate (surface with papers for idea mapping).

Object is analogue and eco friendly.

The shape of the object is round, in order to give the feeling of a center, focus point, the sense of space and gathering.

The usual setting of team work at POLIMI (putting 2 tables together) > 2 horizontal cuts which enable the product to be stuck in between 2 tables, locking them together, creating a common work surface.

Elements of the product

> plugs> battery – charged only by the supplier not by stu-dents> time reminder – analogue stop watch> ideator – plate shaped surface to put work sheets on> spinning handle – which enables the rotation> pointer > rotation plate> handle for carrying> other inner parts> paper wheels – downloadable from the website, A3 format. They contain the circle shape which needs to be cut out and description of a method.

The battery of EDDY is fully charged when you recieve it.Only staff can charge the battery using the electric energy.

In order to keep the battery full you have to keep working on EDDY using the method and rotating plate which charges the battery on the kinetic energy principal.

In a way we create a kinetic energy by generating ideas.

> Take the group component's number and multiply this by 3. This will be the number of slices you need to draw.

> Each component of the group has 5 minutes to generate 3 ideas.

> Write 1 idea for each slice.

> Spin the wheel and start to present the selected idea.

> Each one must give at least 1 positive and 1 negative feedback.
