Poge 16 Tonawanda NEWS Thursday, January 26, 1967 _____ Brian Brian Krause, N o r t h Tonawanda's fantastic free style ace, set a new State swim record last night in coming- within a whisker of cracking four minutes in the 400 free to lead the Lumberjacks to an 82-13 win over Lockport. NT jayvees also won 63-30. 400 The NT tankers won all eleven events and placed one-two in all but two events, the 200 individual medley and the 100 fly. Coach John Baronich's unit also set a new pool and school record in the 200 medley relay with the re- doubtable Krause again playing a major role. In the 400 free, Brian was clocked in four minutes flat, breaking the record of 4:01, which he set last year at Law- renceville. Two of the timers had Krause in four flat while anoth- er had him in 3:50.9. His time was amazing because it was a race against the clock and not against opposition. He moved ahead of the pack from the beginning and had es- tablished his lead after the first SO yards. He turned in the 100 in :53.5 and completed the 200 in 1:55.4. He then fell off the pace slightlytoclose out the 300 in 2:58.3 and flashed the last 100 in 1:01.7 for four minutes flat. In the 200 medley relay the NT tankers were clocked in 1:45.4 for a new record. The time was also the best turned in thus far in Western New York. The splits were Tom Grobe, :27.4, R i c k Baxter, :30.5, Art Young, -.25.3 and Krause :22.2. NT did not have a double win- ner in the meet, proof of the depth of the Lumberjack squad. In the 200 free, a pair of sopho- mores, Tom Turner and Ken Tubbs, went at each other and Turner posted a 2:03.5, three seconds better than his best pre- vious time. John Cady won the 50 free in 23.6 while in the 200 individual Mike Campbell was the winner. Tom Skuce won the diving with a glittering perform- ance which netted him 243.3 points. In the 100 fly, Steve Stratton was an easy winner, Ed Rich of Lockport was second in t h e event. Mike Sonnen won the 100 free and Tom Grobe took the 100 back, while in the 100 breast, Rich Baxter posted his best time ever, 1:08.7. Poge 16 Tonawanda NEWS Thursday, January 26, 1967 _____

Brian Brian Krause, N o r t h

Tonawanda's fantastic free style ace, set a new State swim record last night in coming- within a whisker of cracking four minutes in the 400 free to lead the Lumberjacks to an 82-13 win over Lockport. NT jayvees also won 63-30.

400 The NT tankers won all

eleven events and placed one-two in all but two events, the 200 individual medley and the 100 fly. Coach John Baronich's unit also set a new pool and school record in the 200 medley relay with the re

doubtable Krause again playing a major role.

In the 400 free, Brian was clocked in four minutes flat, breaking the record of 4:01, which he set last year at Law-renceville. Two of the timers had Krause in four flat while another had him in 3:50.9. His time was amazing because it was a race against the clock and not against opposition.

He moved ahead of the pack

from the beginning and had established his lead after the first SO yards. He turned in the 100 in :53.5 and completed the 200 in 1:55.4. He then fell off the pace slightly to close out the 300 in 2:58.3 and flashed the last 100 in 1:01.7 for four minutes flat.

In the 200 medley relay the NT tankers were clocked in 1:45.4 for a new record. The time was also the best turned in thus far in Western New York. The splits

were Tom Grobe, :27.4, R i c k Baxter, :30.5, Art Young, -.25.3 and Krause :22.2.

NT did not have a double winner in the meet, proof of the depth of the Lumberjack squad. In the 200 free, a pair of sophomores, Tom Turner and Ken Tubbs, went at each other and Turner posted a 2:03.5, three seconds better than his best previous time. John Cady won the 50 free in 23.6 while in the 200

individual Mike Campbell was the winner. Tom Skuce won the diving with a glittering performance which netted him 243.3 points.

Summaries:
