It’s another edition of the long-running Zine Yearbook series and this time Microcosm Publishing is at the helm! Collecting the best of 2007’s zine-makin’ action, Microcosm hopes to provide a well-rounded, inclusive look into what the zine scene was up to in 2007, showing all the struggles and adventures and presenting it in its original lay- outs as often as possible. Twice the size of previous Zine Yearbooks, Zine Yearbook #9 is 240 pages of the best of the best with submissions from publications as varied as Duplex Planet, Urban Hermitt, Spread, and Biff. Along with the expansive collection of writing and comics, there are also columns written by folks like Cindy Crabb (Doris), Microcosm Publishing founder Joe Biel, and ABC NO RIO’s Vikki Law. As says The La-la Theory‘s Katie Haegele in the Zine Yearbook #9’s introduction, “The connection people make with each other through writing and reading is as human as we get, and zinesters know this, they live it.” The Zine Yearbook #9 hopes to bring this connection even closer to home. “The Zine Yearbook is like no other publication I know. It is unique, and vastly enter- taining.” -Howard Zinn “The Zine Yearbook is both an interestingly diverse sampler of the real alternative press (read: ‘non-commericial, heterodox, irregular, and independent’) and a fruitful entry into a world where ‘publish it ourselves’ makes perfect sense.” -Chris Dodge, “Street Librarian” columnist for Utne Magazine “If you’ve got any interest in exploring the best that non-for-profit independent publishing has to offer, you should already own this.” -Sean Sullivan, Maximum Rock n Roll SUBJECT CATEGORY: Zine compilation RELEASE: 3-15-09 PRICE: Retail: $12 | Direct: $10 | Wholesale: $7.20 ISBN: 978-1934620076 FORMAT: paperback, 7x9.25”, 240 pgs, illustrated MARKETING NOTES: Previous editions of Zine Yearbook where published by Soft Skull Press and Become the Media and have sold out of their print runs Featured on 15,000 postcards and 50,000 catalogs distributed to stores and individuals Advertised regularly in Maximum Rock n Roll, Slug and Lettuce, Razorcake, Give Me Back, and Reader's Guide to the Underground Press Magazines.
