Scheduling Timeline and the Master Schedule Build● Students have received their course recommendations
○ Selection Criteria vs. Prerequisite ● Students will meet with their counselor

● Counselors will prepare and mail verification forms the week of March 4th

Almost all courses have prerequisites and a few AP courses also include selection criteria. Information can be found beginning on page 5, under each course description.
Each Art course can be taken up to four times; teachers will differentiate the material based on the student’s level of knowledge and ability.
Digital Fabrication will be offered for the first time in the 2019-2020 school year for students interested in pursuing a career in engineering or architecture.
Our course of study allows students to specialize instead of enrolling in a “general art” course
Art
Course descriptions including any prerequisites can be found beginning on page 7, under each course description.
College Credit Plus or College Courses are offered through Hiram in our Business department.
Students have the opportunity to participate in realistic work and scenarios: Idea Blitz, Junior Achievement, Stock Market Competition
Grant money has enabled CFHS to financially support students who want to start a business and are enrolled in Business courses at the High School.
Business
Courses primarily have prerequisites, however, those courses also have grade requirements. Each prerequisite and requirement can be found underneath each course and above the description beginning on page 8.
Computer Science is important if your child is wishing to pursue a degree in Engineering, Math, Science, Business etc. The job opportunities are amazing.

Computer Science
Courses have selection criteria and prerequisites. The specifics are found under each course description beginning on page 9.
The department offers courses that suit specific skill sets (Literature, Writing, Speaking)
CCP (on campus), AP Seminar and Research, AP Literature, Journalism, Creative Writing, Video Productions
Encourage students to talk to their current teacher about their interests and areas of strength
English
All courses have selection criteria and prerequisites. These are found under each course description beginning on page 12.
Algebra and Geometry are the foundational courses and Algebra II is a graduation requirement.Beyond this, you have choices (e.g. Statistics vs. Calculus).
Big picture conversations about what your student wants to do after high school. Majority of majors will require a Math class that is heavy in Statistics.
Mathematics

Students have the ability to participate in Band or Choir AND athletics! The music department is flexible and wants students to pursue their interests!
If a student does not have a musical background, they can still participate! Please see the department chair, Mrs. Shoenfelt for more information.
There are no prerequisites or selection criteria.

Course Offerings: Physical Education, Personal Fitness, Get Yourself Moving, and IPEP
IPEP is our Individualized Physical Education Program in which students complete online modules and interscholastic sport participation is recognized.
Summer School will also be offered for the summer of 2019. Please see your counselor for more information.
PE and Health
Course descriptions for all courses begin on page 15. Selection criteria and prerequisites can be found under each course description.
Electives include: APES, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and Anatomy and Physiology.
Students have the ability to double up and take two Science if you are interested. Have a conversation with your current science teacher and trust their judgement with regard to course recommendations inclusive of taking a double Science.
Science
Courses are recommended using selection criteria. Criteria are found on page 16 and included components such as: Grades, Gifted ID, PSAT Data, Writing Sample, Work Ethic Rubric.
There are no prerequisites and there is no “track”! Student’s can take an AP Course at any time! It is all about readiness!
Electives: AP Psychology, AP Micro, AP Macro, Sociology, 21st Century
Social Studies
All courses have prerequisites (e.g. Students must earn credit in Level 2 before moving onto Level 3). Prerequisites can be found under each course description beginning on page 18.
Courses are built and offered based on numbers of student requests. This means we may only have the option of offering a combined level course.

Credit Hour Guidelines
• Summer, Fall and Spring (Academic Year).
• 30 college credits per year, Maximum of 120 credits.
• All high school courses are included in the 30 credits.
• Will not be able to attend beyond spring semester of senior year.
Calculating 30 Credit Hours
• Most college courses are 3 credits
• One 3 credit hour college course = One high school unitexample: 1 year of English = 1 college course, 15 weeks
Allowable Courses
• Students must:• Complete their first 15 credits in level I courses.• Meet all course prerequisites (placement tests).
• Typical Level I Courses:• College General Education/Core courses … equivalencies
to AP coursework. • Courses in IT, Computer Science, Anatomy & Physiology,
foreign language.

• Adhere to your schools policies and procedures;
• Submit your schools completed ‘Letter of Intent” by April 1st to your school;

● Programs are a two-year commitment - Junior & Senior Year
● Students follow a hybrid schedule that includes ½ day coursework at home school in combination with ½ day program-specific coursework
● Students who complete programs are eligible to have credits transfer to Colleges and Universities
