Planning Progress

Page 2: Planning progress

• Due to a lot of deliberation , discussions and constant development of ideas, as a group we felt this needed to be evidenced and therefore show how our idea’s progressed over time. It was my role within the group to document all

of our adaptations in the planning process, making the journey of our task easier to

follow.

Initial Treatment (Opening) The first change we have made to our treatment plan is the opening shot. In order to include Indie Folk genre conventions; we have decided to start with a panning wide shot of autumn leaves on a tree with a bright blue sky in the back

We plan for this part of the scene to

remain exactly the same

Also we didn’t like the idea of having too many consecutive narrative-based shots. We plan to include scenes of young people lip syncing the lyrics of the song . Another change is that we longer want to include the idea of hearing the judge calling “NEXT” as we want the audience to anticipate what she is about to walk into and do next

Initial Treatment (Middle)

A drastic choice we made in our treatment and planning of scenes is the structure of the middle and ending. The majority of what we wanted to be shown in the middle , we would like in the end and visa- versa. However, there are also additional adaptations we have made to that as well which will be explained in the next slide

Character List

• In the original character list we produced, group members Jumana and Suzanne , had only included the main protagonist (Yasmine) and the ‘judge’ (Emmanuel) and the female exiting the ballet studio in the first scene.

• Once our idea about including young students lip syncing in our music video, I took the initiative to create an adapted character list which included these people too.

Lip Syncing CharactersYvonne Chibueze- Female, student, Black

British- African, 18 Years of age. We asked this female to play the character of a talkative, outgoing teenager who enjoys gossiping with her friends. As she is at legal age to legally purchase and publicly smoke cigarettes in the UK, along with her edgy and unique fashion style, she was perfect to play this character role. She will be seen smoking and socialising in her lip-syncing scenes to help enforce the song's lyrics about young people damaging themselves from consuming drugs.

Sebastian-Male, student, Mixed British- White and Asian, 17 years old. A shy and socially awkward character. He will not be seen a lot of times however his personality will be evident through the few shots of shot. Sebastian will play a shy boy who is giggly and child-like, representing the youthfulness and innocence of our message.

Clarrissa Johnson-Female, sales associate, British- White, 21 years old years of age. This character will be portrayed as rebellious and almost the stereotypical “chav”. We want to have someone who can be used as an example of how society view teenagers. She will also be seen smoking and socialising on the road , with a full face of make-up, high ponytail and faux fur jacket. Characters movement will best portray her unruly characteristics

Conclusion

• The new changes to our plans for our music video will hopefully make our construction process more successful in meeting our aim.

Now we have a more precise and clear foundation to work on and we look forward to seeing how close our results will be compared to our planning ideas.
