Planning a New Classroom Arrangement
S T U D E N T H A N D O U T A
Directions: Follow the steps below to plan a new class arrangement.
1. Decide on a name for your group. (Take no more than one minute to decide.)2. Decide on a simple flag to represent your group. Use the markers you were given to draw
your flag on sticky notes. (Take no more than a few minutes to do this.)3. Place your flags on any piece of furniture in the classroom that your group would like to
“claim” as yours in the new arrangement. When we rearrange the class, all furniture with your group’s flag on it will be placed wherever you desire. As you stick your flag on each item, loudly say, “I claim this _______ (item) in the name of _________ (your group’s name)!”
4. Create a map that shows how your group would like to rearrange the classroom.

Directions: Follow the steps below to plan a new class arrangement. The steps must be completed in the exact order outlined.
1. Decide on a name for your group.2. Decide on a simple flag to represent your group. Draw it on your sticky notes. You may
only use the one marker you were given.3. On a separate piece of paper, create a map that shows how your group would like to rear-
range the classroom. Consider where you want to move all the furniture, electronics, etc.4.
