The Chapels of St. Rose Convent are located at the Motherhouse of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. “Mary of the Angels” and “Perpetual Adoration” chapels are among the most beautiful in the United States.

The chapels have been featured on national and regional television. Built in the early 1900s, the chapels were dedicated on August 1, 1906. In the small Perpetual Adoration Chapel located behind the main altar, the sisters pray round the clock in perpetual adoration, a practice they have continued non-stop since 1878. The interior of the chapel is an architectural and artistic treasure. It is Romanesque in style, with Corinthian pillars and windows of Bavarian stained glass. Altars of Italian marble are decorated with bronze, onyx pillars, and inlaid mosaics of Venetian glass and mother of pearl. The entire chapel was cleaned and repainted in the 1990s in a restoration project with new lighting that further enhances the structure’s beauty.

Visitors will receive a guided tour which highlights the unique features of this exquisite chapel. Mary of the Angels Chapel was recently featured in a book, “The Architecture of Eugene Liebert: Teutonic style in the American Midwest”, by H. Russell Zimmermann.
