Hi! I’m Heather.

I am a homeschooling mother of four wild and little kiddos, and I

blog over at Only Passionate Curiosity. On my blog, I try to share a

little bit of what our homeschool life is like, all our triumphs and

struggles. More than that, I try and share the things that are

working for us– free printables, a massive list of the free curriculum

resources that we have found online, and tips and tricks that make

Mercury is the smallest planet, and the planet closest to the

sun. It experiences extreme hot temperatures during the day

and cold temperatures at night on it’s surface.


Venus is the hottest planet. It is the second brightest thing in

the night sky (the Moon is the brightest) and you can see it

with your naked eye. It is about the same size as the Earth.


Earth is the only planet in our solar system with liquid

water, and an atmosphere that supports life. You are here!


Mars is known as the “red planet” because of all the red

dust on it’s surface. It’s atmosphere is made of carbon

dioxide– and lots of it!


Jupiter is the largest planet, and it has 67 moons. The big red

spot on it is a dust storm that has been happening for 350

years. Jupiter has the shortest day of all the planets.


Saturn looks like it only has one large, flat ring, but in reality

it has many small rings, made up mostly of ice and dust. Four

spaceships have visited Saturn to collect data.


Uranus spins in the opposite direction of Earth. It is often

called an “Ice Giant” because of the thick layer of Ice and

Nitrogen on it’s surface, and has a pale blue color.


Neptune appears to be beautiful blue, because of the methane

in it’s atmosphere. It’s surface has very fast clouds, which

sometimes appear as dark blue spots (the longest known

storm was visible for 5 years as a blue spot)
