PLAN YOUR CHILD’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AT THE DIMENNA CHILDREN’S HISTORY MUSEUM

Let our museum sta� help you create a meaningful and memorable birthday for your child. Our basic parties challenge children to become history detectives in order to search for clues in fun scavenger hunts with prizes. Read about these hunts below or choose from several options on the following pages to customize your party according to your child’s interests.

Parties are available for Members of the New-York Historical Society at the Family Level ($150) or above and all have the use of a private entertainment space in which to celebrate with the birthday child.

The birthday child and guests wind their way through the exhibits in the DiMenna Children’s History Museum, looking for clues in a fun interactive hunt. Guests will then participate in a custom- themed art project in their private, decorated party space.

90 minutes or 2 hours;ideal for children ages 5-8

Parties at the DiMenna Children’s History Museum include the following: • DiMenna Children’s History Museum party space rental • Admission to the New-York Historical Society and DiMenna Children’s History Museum for children and adults • Two party leaders, with an additional sta� member for more than 20 children • Birthday poster for guests to sign • Festive balloons, paper goods, and DiMenna Children’s History Museum goodie bag

The price for a 90-minute party is $800 and for a 2-hour party is $1000.All parties are for 12 children. Guests may be added for an additional cost of $30 per person, with a maximum of 30 children. Events at the Museum can be held Tuesday through Sunday during Museum hours. Parties may be held on Mondays, when the Museum is closed to the public, for an additional fee. Fifty percent of the base price is due upon booking the party, with the balance of the contract due on the date of the party. American Express, MasterCard and Visa cards are accepted.

HISTORYHUNT

Older children will be challenged to search throughout the entire museum, following written clues in order to locate items in the collection. Small groups will work together to answer questions in this more elaborate hunt. An art project and decorated party space are also included in this package.

HISTORYEXPEDITION

What if your child prefers music or magic? Or what if you have a daughter younger than �ve or your son loves all things related to baseball? We can create a celebration for your family in our museum party space.

These 2-hour custom options start at an additional $500 and include:

New York Hip Music Scene For the younger set, dance and sing along with one of New York's favorite musicians for kids. After a fun scavenger hunt for objects in the museum, the party moves into a private entertainment space where the concert gets going... backstage passes included! For the pre-teens, let’s get the party started with a DJ and dance motivator who will get the kids moving to the beat and playing fun games on the dance �oor.

New Amsterdam Adventure Party Take a step back 300 years, into New Amsterdam, when life was very di�erent than it is today. Kids had di�erent games to play, di�erent kinds of books and lots of chores! Meet Cornelia, the daughter of a New Amsterdam merchant, who will play games and show you things you would �nd in her home. She’ll lead the kids on their scavenger hunt and help them make a cross stitch bookmark. This party would be perfect for kids ages 7 and up.

All Aboard! Trains are a big part of New York history…what would we do without them? Help our train conductor �nd his whistle so New Yorkers can get home! Age appropriate challenges and trivia about New York and trains! Prizes along the way and a very special ending if we arrive at the station! Choose this option for a fun, active group of 4-7 year olds.

Westward Ho! City kids will get a taste of the Wild West when Bean the Cowpoke rides into town. Don’t know how to rope cattle? Or prospect for gold? Like New Yorkers in centuries past, �nd the allure of the lands to the West and have some fun along the way. This is a great party for 5-8 year olds.

Pirates in the Harbor The British army is hot on your trail! You and your pirate crew have to �nd the buried loot and get o� the island before they drop anchor! Learn how to become a pirate, answer trivia questions, solve riddles, and conquer booby traps and physical challenges -- all leading to the bag of treasure! Kids from 4-8 will love getting their faces painted and becoming pirates for the day.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game Young athletes and non-athletes alike will take a swing at being baseball heroes with theater activities and other challenges for the mind and body led by the famous Bobby Klutts. Design your own team logos on baseballs and you’ll be ready for the big leagues!

It’s A 30s Mystery This is a mystery that will keep the older kids guessing! Like the popular dime store novels of the time, we trail a jewel thief through New York. We’ll follow the clues with Bogart, answering New York trivia along the way, until we �nd the culprit! Add a fortune teller to this option for some real intrigue.

New York’s Own Houdini Yes, Houdini was a New Yorker! Celebrate your birthday with New York magic…be entertained by an amazing magician, who may even share a few tricks with you and your guests. This party is great for all ages of kids (and adults).

It’s 1789…and George is in town!Who wouldn’t want to meet George Washington and ask him all about his incredible journey? Kids can participate in a scavenger hunt in the children’s museum and then George will personally lead the group to learn about objects from his life story.

These include a pencil, a sharpener and a large reproduction of an Alexander Hamilton $10 bill.

If you choose to add any items to this selection, we are happy to arrange this. Our shop stocks many fun gift items: jacks, marbles, yo-yos, water bottles, marker sets, reproductions

of old currency, copies of the Declaration of Independence and other documents. Just tell us what

you’re interested in and we will check availability and prices.

We provide balloons for each child in the standard package.
