Helping, Encourage, Reward, Obtain,
Education for Single mothers
A Hero is defined as being brave, a leader, visionary, living with their morals, has tenacity despite
challenges, is focused, fair minded, kind, wise, inspiring and determined…sound like a loving mother to
me.
We Believe in women for their strength, and as impressionable role models
for our futures through children.
Our Mission is to support single moms through educational scholarships
to better the future for themselves and set a good example to their children.
We Envision changing single mothers and their children’s lives and set
their own paths and individual dreams.
There is a growing trend to have children outside of marriage, whereas, it use to be only the poor and minorities women.
Today, out of the 12,000,000 million single parents, nearly 10,000,000 are single mothers. 49% of them were never married
and 51% come from divorce, separation and widowed. Nearly 39% live at or below the poverty level.
With all those facts, single mothers must still spend time with their children, manage the home, work long hard days and
have little to no extra time or finances to attend college to better their future and their children’s future. As well, women’s
earnings are far less than comparable work of men. About $.78 to a $1 for the same job and less are found in a leadership
position. Single mothers often spends over half their income on housing expenses and a third on child care. Surprisingly
there are a total of about 2 million single mother students and they have little to no means to contribute financially to their
education.
We want to help and encourage single mothers to all they can be ….
HEROES is proud to offer $1000.00 scholarships, awarded annually for tuition and academic expenses to eligible and
winning single mother applicants.
Scholarships are awarded based on female gender, 17 or older age, marital status of single, divorced, or widowed,
