“PC + Card” versus Appliance
“PC + Cards” versus Appliance
Component churn – every 9 (?) months results in increased procurement /integration/testing costs
Purpose built, stable telephony platform
Greater integration effort (cards & drivers, choosing components and building PC)
Integration done by PIKA(expansion modules, Linux/Asterisk/FreePBX)
Stigma: PC not as reliable as a proprietary PBX
Purpose built for telephony, solid state, more reliable
Large in size – greater power requirements
Small in size – low power requirements
