PHOTOSWITCH® DIN Mount Fiber Optic Sensors Precise Small Objects Detection for Hard to Reach Places Fiber optic sensors are ideal for a variety of packaging and assembly applications including the detection of very small objects, parts verification in hard to reach areas and color mark registration. These sensors consist of a light amplifying unit and a fiber optic cable that can be installed at the detection area allowing for remote sensitivity adjustment. The Allen-Bradley ® 45FVL, 45FSL and 42FT, along with the new extended range 45FPL provide a solution perfect for applications with significant space limitations. These amplifiers can be mounted side-by-side along a DIN-rail away from the actual application providing installation flexibility and a superior noise immunity. Rockwell Automation ® also provides a wide range of Allen-Bradley fiber optic cables with a variety of tips that allow the user to operate the sensors in diffuse mode by using bifurcated cables or as a transmitted beam sensing solution when using individual fiber cables. Fiber optic cables run inconspicuously from the amplifiers to the target sensing area where they can be mounted into a standard through-hole or affixed with a mounting bracket. For color mark registration, the 45FVL offers models with red, green, blue and white LED sources for detecting the widest variety of color marks on any background color. Some 45FSL models have a 30 μs response time making them ideal for very high-speed applications. To reduce wiring installation time, the 45FSL and 45FVL feature a “Power Bus” option, allowing up to sixteen sensors to be powered through a single hard-wired connection. The 42FB analog output provides a 1-8V DC voltage output that is proportional to the amount of light the unit receives making it ideal for applications where the relative position of the target is required.
