This course will provide basic instruction in the use of digital cameras. Topics will include types of digital cameras, various types of lenses, digital media formats, lighting situations, exposure modes, digital fi lters, camera accessories, fl ash photography, downloading images, Adobe PhotoShop, and image editing. This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to take high quality images with a digital camera in any situation.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: Demonstrate profi ciency in the proper use of a digital camera in a variety of lighting situations. The profi ciency will result through an understanding of basic exposure concepts including manual adjustments of speeds and apertures. Students will also have an understanding of basic computer downloading, editing, and photofi nishing.

An expensive digital camera is not required. All that is needed is for the camera to be digital. It is recommended that the digital camera allow for exposure compensation or manual adjustments.

RegistrationYou may register in person by coming to the West Texas Training Center, Room 101, or by phone calling 325-481-8322. NOTE: If a course requires pre-requisites, registration can only be done in person.

Refund Policy - Prior to the fi rst scheduled class meeting- 100%. If class is canceled by the college - 100%. For a course meeting fewer than three times no refunds except prior to fi rst scheduled class meeting. For a course meeting three or more times, after the fi rst class meeting and prior to the second - 70%. None thereafter. Class Cancellation - The Continuing Education/Workforce Training Department reserves the right to cancel any course in which there is not suffi cient enrollment. Certifi cate of Completion - Upon completion of approved courses, a Certifi cate of Completion with the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) total will be given to students who successfully complete a course. A CEU is equal to ten hours of classroom attendance. Satisfactory completion will be determined by attendance and performance as assessed by the instructor. Certifi cates of Completion will be awarded to students who successfully complete any workforce training-community education course. Transcripts - Transcripts serve as offi cial validation of successful completion of WT/CE courses. Requests for an offi cial CEU transcript can be made in person at the Admissions Offi ce during regular business hours, by email registrar@howardcollege.edu, or by calling 325-481-8300 ext 3327.
