Contact Sheets

Page 2: Photo shoot contact sheets

• These were the first set of images I took for my music magazine. I took them against a plain white backdrop in the media studio.

• Due to being able to take the images in the media room, I was also able to use the lighting provided so that I had high quality lighting incorporated in to my photographs.

• I told Tyler to wear a plain black t-shirt and a pair of jeans for this shoot as I felt it best reflected the simplicity of the magazine whilst still including the indie/ soft rock theme.

I took these 4 images at Tyler’s gig in Liverpool.

Taking these at his gig benefited me because there was already good quality, high-tech lighting as a backdrop.

I was only able to take 4 images because of the short sets that Tyler was doing whilst on stage but the images I managed to get will all work well in my magazines double page spread and contents page.

I didn’t have a choice in the clothing that Tyler wore however, this choice of clothing still fits in with the music genre that I chose.

I took these images in different locations throughout Chester city centre.

I chose this location because the band The Jigsaws are from Chester and they felt that they would like to include this location in to their images.

The first few images on this contact sheet didn’t work very well as the lighting and the flash was not thought out properly. However, the more images I took, the better quality they got and the more I thought about lighting and location.

I asked the members of the band to wear clothes that they would normally wear to band practice.

I have put the images that I have edited from The Jigsaws shoot on to it’s own contact sheet because these were the images that I took the most time on because I knew that I wanted to make one of these images the front cover main image.

I used Photoshop to edit these images; adjusting the brightness and contrast on a lot of them.

I have chosen to use the first image that is on this contact sheet, as my main image on my front cover. This is because I feel that it not only incorporates aspects of the main location, Chester, but it also keeps with the soft rock theme of the magazine.
