Evaluation of my

photosBy Natalie Conneely

Setting and Background

The green room was simple to set up as well as the lightening settings

within the room and on the camera

itself.

Located in the school’s ‘Green

Room’ itself, we had scheduled to

work within the area from 15:00pm-

16:00pm, giving my model half an

hour to get ready while the lighting

settings could be tested.

Photo Shoot Prior to the photo-shoot's prompt time to start at

15:30pm, my model Lauren McQueen had half an hour in which she completed her hair and

make up to the description matching the model

sheet she had signed before emitting herself as

my model.

Throughout the photo-shoot, many pictures were taken which would

later be analyzed to see if they

were eligible to be inserted into my

magazine. Based on the quality

and influence the pictures would have on my audience, I decided

upon four images in total for the magazine; from the front screen,

contents page and double page

spread.

Lighting problems

Photos like these four were in

some ways good. For example,

each of these pictures have a

connection with the audience as

she is looking directly into the

camera. However, due to the

lighting in these pictures, trying to

photo shop these pictures

became a non completable

challenge.

Some other shots with

lighting problems..

The lighting does not

highlight her face in a

presentable way.

The shadow

and light

hitting her

face made it

hard to edit

this picture.

Yet again, the

lighting towards her

face creates an

orange backlight

on her skin, also

making it hard to

edit.

Specific Angles

Trying to get an over the shoulder angle yet having most of her facial features in the camera

became a challenge too.

Finding the right angle for a picture can be

difficult for many photographers, although I do like the way these photos were produced as an

end product as I achieved my aim – an over the

shoulder shot with her facial features intact.

Conclusion To conclude, I would say on a whole, my photo-shoot

turned out to be a success as I achieved my four images I needed for my magazine. Plus some remaining ones that could have been put inside if the original ideas of them were not up to my liking.

Although some photos that I found to be quite good in the end result did not make the end cut due to the contrast in colours. This seemed the be the main problem throughout my photo-shoot, as the lighting of the camera did not cooperate to the description I had hoped for.

If I was to do the photo-shoot again there are some things I would suggest I would do in order to improve, for instance, I would adjust the lighting in many different ways to see the end result of the many pictures I took. I would also add a few more props, camera angles and costumes to the photo-shoot to give myself a variety of photos to choice from.
