On the lighter side…
Genesee Abbey Retreats
When we think of summer, every part of us yearns to have that feeling of timelessness we remember from the summers of our youth. And yet, for most of us, the
encroachment of 'clock-time" and that feeling of busy-and-behind-on-things has even captured summer. Hence, there is no better time to practice the "sacrament of the
present moment" than during this time. God's insane generosity found in every flower, fruit, bee and sunset compliments the prayer time with monks and makes this such a
special time at the Abbey.
I invite you step away from the noise of daily life and experience the silence of a retreat. Connect with yourself and with God through the rhythm of the monastery in the
quiet comfort of our retreat house.
Join us for a weekend or a mid-week retreat, as your schedule allows. Come and explore how silence can lead to freedom of heart this spring.
I look forward to seeing you at the retreat house.
Sincerely,
Mike Sauter -Retreat House Manager Email: [email protected]

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
“ You are without excuse, everyone of you who passes judgement. For by the standard by which you judge another you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the very same things.” - Rom 2:1
Jesus rebukes James and John for wishing to call down fire upon the Samaritans, showing us that we are not to judge others. Can we expect less than rejection, when even our Savior was rejected by those he came to save?
Let us show Christlike forgiveness to those who do us wrong.-Magnificat, June 2019, Vol.21, No.4

O most holy heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with lively sorrow for my sins I offer you this poor heart of
mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to your will. Grant, Good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you. Protect me in the midst of danger. Comfort me in my afflictions.
Give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, your blessing on all that I do, and
the grace of a holy death. Amen.
