Philippians 1: 27-30

27Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; 28in no way alarmed by your opponents--which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God. 29For to you it has been granted for Christ's sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, 30experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear to be in me. .

Paul’s unsure future left him to start verse 27 as he did, “Whatever happens…..”

We often say it like this when we are not sure of the future, “No matter what happens…”

3. A sign that you believe in Jesus Christ is that you suffer because of His name. It may not be suffering that requires your life, but there will be some suffering. It may be the snickering of a coworker, or a well placed insult from an unbelieving family member or acquaintance, or an attempt to deface your character religious authorities. Jesus said, “In this life you will have tribulation, but take courage I have overcome the world.’
