Energy Data Request Program

Page 5: PG&E Energy Data for Local Governments Training Webinar

Program Background In May 2014, CPUC issued a Final Decision which outlined guidelines for IOUs to provide customers’ energy usage data to eligible third-parties.

Commission, after reviewing 12 different use cases, authorized utilities to provision data to 4 third parties.

Energy Data Request Program (EDRP)

EDRP has two key program features 1. Publish customer usage data on a quarterly basis by

zip code and customer class

2. Implement a streamlined Data Request and Release Process (DRRP) online

(2) Data Request

(1) Publicly and available Release reports posted Process on web portal (DRRP)

(2) Data Request and Release Process

New Process

• Submit energy data requests online

Intake

• IOUs apply data aggregation rules, validate 3rd party and business need

Data • Release data after

approved time-frame

Release

Anonymized Data

5/25 Rule for Industrial Consumption Data

Aggregated over a group consisting of 5 customers in a single customer class. No single customer accounts for more than 25% of the total energy consumption in an individual month.

Data should be aggregated to a least the monthly level.

100/10 Rule for Residential, Commercial, Agricultural, or Industrial Consumption Data

20 Green Communities Reports: Approach

Pre-2010 Model Offer raw data directly to local governments when requested only for emission inventories

Current Model Use data as an engagement tool -provide insights and analysis utilizing PG&E as ongoing partner in planning process

Raw data provided to over 70% of local governments in PG&E Service Territory for

emissions inventories

• Interactive reports provided to communities

• Community Energy Managers present reports to community stakeholders

Page 21: PG&E Energy Data for Local Governments Training Webinar

21 Questions addressed by these reports

–How has my community’s usage changed over time?

–How much CO2 is produced by energy consumed in my community?

–What are the major segments/ types of businesses in my community?

–What is the breakdown of multi- and single-family energy usage in my community?

–How much solar is in my community?

What’s New? • Some Green Communities accounts deleted

– Contact your CEM to set up new account • 2014 Reports delayed

– CEMS will e-mail announcements when available – Webinar invites reviewing changes to 2014 report

formats will be sent once reports finalized • To review 2014 Preliminary Draft Reports and assist
