Our specialized consulting services aim to provide optimal designs and concepts which facilitate growth and add value to our customers’ business interests. Our strong multi-disciplinary engineering network and knowledge of modern Industrial Standards and Practices allows us to develop solutions packages for both Greenfield and Brownfield projects.

New Plant Development Services

PetroPlat's engineers are experienced in performing from Pre-FEED services on oil & gas projects including:

Process Screening - A techno-economic evaluation of the process options available to determine the optimal process for the application

Feasibility Design - Evaluation of the processes selected to ensure that they are suitable to perform the required duty and meet the product specifications.

Conceptual Design - Pre -FEED engineering to determine high level plant design requirements to enable projects to move towards sanction.

Our engineers have been involved in completion of several projects on behalf of our clients in order to improve the performance of their facilities. These include:

Performance Assessment - Data collection on the operational plant and a comparison with ideal performance as shown through process simulation. For plants that use consumables, this allows for the scheduling of replacements that maximise plant availability.

Optimisation - Process modelling of the plant to identify where improvements can be made. After implementation, these improvements are then evaluated to ensure that optimisation has been achieved.

Debottlenecking - Services are performed where plant throughput is to be increased to achieve capacity increase or to recover from under performance. This involves identification of the components causing a restriction and proposing a solution to alleviate this.

Troubleshooting - Services are used where there are operational issues that affect either the production rate, product specification or equipment issues. This involves identification of the problem and evaluating solutions to eliminate it.

Transient behaviour of a system can be studied through dynamic simulation using tools such as HYSYS and UniSim. Dynamic analysis provides feedback and improves the steady state model by identifying specific areas in a plant that have difficulty achieving their steady state objectives. These areas of concern include:

Flow Assurance

Flow assurance is the analysis of thermal, hydraulic and production chemistry issues during fluid flow in processes and pipelines in the oil & gas industry. PetroPlat provides expert advice on the following aspects of flow assurance:

Prevention of blockages from hydrates, waxes, asphaltenes and the impact of emulsions. Material Selection and Corrosion Management

Corrosion management is that part of the overall management system, which is concerned with the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the corrosion policy and covers integrity risks, including those from stress corrosion cracking, embrittlement, erosion, etc. as well as “simple corrosion” (i.e. general, pitting and crevice corrosion).

External Pipeline Corrosion Management

The coating choice and the method by which the pipeline coating is applied will dictate the long term protection afforded to a pipeline. As with the coating system, the design, operation and monitoring of the catholic protection system will also have an impact on the in-service performance of the pipeline.

Control, mitigation and management of corrosion anomalies such as AC and DC corrosion, MIC and SCC will safeguard the integrity of a pipeline and extend intervals between inspections and ultimately its service life.

PetroPlat recognises that there are many ways to organise and operate successful corrosion management systems, each of which is asset specific depending on factors such as design, stage in the life cycle, process conditions and operational history.

Internal Pipeline Corrosion Management

PetroPlat's approach to corrosion management is to consider the fluids, materials and safety aspects as an integrated whole. In most respects the transported fluids dictate the materials and corrosion control methods used for pipelines while occasionally the materials technology available will shape the feasible transportation options. Ultimately the objective is to produce a pipeline with an acceptable risk of failure. Thus, all these aspects have to be addressed when considering internal corrosion management

CAPEX and OPEX Estimation and Optimization for New Field Development

Conceptual design has long been challenged with applying capital and operating costs to preliminary designs. However, existing methods have led to inaccurate‚ cost-prohibitive‚ or impractical proposals. In a highly competitive market‚ today’s businesses expect engineers to understand relative costs and apply them much earlier in the project to optimize design‚ energy usage‚ and capacity.

CAPEX and OPEX are utilized in estimation and optimization for new field developments. We make use of commercial and in-house software and maintain data bases in order to drive the best oil and gas life cycle cost (LCC) estimates for production, which allow E&C's and owner-operators to:
