A WORD FROM THE PREZ

Our May 5th Dance was held at

Pine Crest Country Club and was our

annual Re-up membership Dance.

There were 56 members that

returned their applications and we

had 40 members and 5 guests in

attendance.

Chigger Woods did a fantastic job

playing our favorite Beach Music

songs to dance and listen to. As

always Margret Inman and Linda

Leggett did an excellent job

decorating the club for our “luau”

re-up dance .They went beyond the

regular decorating by putting a grass

skirt on your President while he was

conducting the business meeting

which everyone thought was

hilarious, but he could not do a good

hula dance and it fell off. Our Club

furnished the Meat, vegetable and

fruit appetizers and our members

brought some really good deserts

and side dishes which everyone

enjoyed.

Our 50/50 drawing for $86.00

which was won by Cindy Giaccone.

We also had several door prizes that

were given away thanks to some of

our members.

Our June 2nd Dance will be held at

Adelio’s Restaurant Downtown on

West 3rd St and our DJ will be

David Sessoms. We are asking all members to contact any former

members and ask them to rejoin our

club and also try to bring a guest to

our dance. This will be a Dutch

event so you can order your own

appetizers for your table from their

menu .We encourage our members

to eat at Adelio’s before the dance.

Our Shag Club is supporting the

Fall Migration SOS Event by selling

Fun Monday tickets at $10.00 each.

The proceeds pay for the free

entertainment on September 17th,

and 18th there is no admission to

attend. Board members have tickets

and if you can sell tickets contact

Dixon Ivey at 910-734-4592. First

place wins $7500.00, second

$2000.00, third $1000.00, fourth

$500, fifth $250.00. In 2014 Brenda

Prease sold Sally McCormick the

winning ticket, so this year it could

be your chance.

Mark still needs members to sign

up to serve at the DOOR, it’s a great

way to greet and meet all our

members and guests and you don’t

have to pay the door fee.

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

Please remember the following people who need our prayerful support:

Also for the return to good health for Steve Dawson; Steve Floyd; Marilyn Pope; Hazel Jenkins,

mother of Gwenn Price and Beverly Britt; Martha Gibson, mother of Brenda Jackson; Sarah Farmer,

sister of Marilyn Pope; Sarah Pope, mother of Larry Pope; Judy Collins, Hospice Care.

Also for former members, Hunter Green, and Eric Rowe. Both are reported to be doing well.

We also offer our thoughts and prayers to many of our members and their families who were still

affected by Hurricane Matthew and the flooding that has taken such a toll on our community and

the sur-rounding area. May all of your needs be met and your recovery be achieved rapidly.

Our RCC & CC Food Drive

We received your donations of non-perishable food items at the April dance. Our next food drive

will be at our August Dance. Let us share what we can to help folks throughout the area.

Thanks to all who bring donations of food to benefit the Church & Community Center Food Bank.

All donations are always greatly appreciated. Canned meat, soups, canned meals, fruit, rice, pasta,

any non-perishables and juices are always needed.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, our donations are even more critical to the food bank as

they struggle to meet the needs of those most drastically affected by the storm.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ From our own abundance may we always meet the needs of others. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
