Message: The length of Triple A baseball FIELD (not included thestadium part) is 118 meters from home plate to the endof the outfield. That is bigger than Sun Bowl/UTEPfootball field length. UTEP field doesn't fit in the CityHall area. How in the world are they going to fit abaseball field in area where a football field doesn't fit?Someone hasn't measure the length. Something is offhere and this needs to be address quickly.

Julie, all of this was addressed in presentation and back up online. Not sure what

else to say other than they are making a huge investment and taking lots of risk. They guarantee the teM to stay In EP throughout term of debt on stadium.

We do not own Asaarco site. It will not be available to any type of redevelopment for at least

another 2 years. Not sure we could accommodate this facility on that property given some of the

environmental issues with the property. We looked at that initially and rejected for these

reasons. If this person would actually review the information on the web they would see that we

    did review and rejected.

    Respond as follows:

City leaders have actively been engaged in creating facilities and opportunities for soccer professional and amateur. Several facilities are on the proposed ballot for November. We also arecollaborating with UTEP to upgrade the Sun Bowl for MLS. The bottom line is MLS will view El Pasos viability based on our success with Triple-A. That is a test bed for other things.

Message: Dear city representative The plan to build a downtownbaseball stadium is a bad one. Not only do we alreadyhave a baseball stadium, we lack a stadium for the mostwidely played and supported sports in el paso. Soccer. You should instead simply improve Cohen stadium Andbuild a multipurpose soccer stadium in downtown. We

are not like other city's like Cleveland. Instead of tryingto emulate them we need to embrace our ownidentity. We are truly a soccer city and we shouldembrace the talent and love for the sport the city has.

An MLS club would be the best sporting club for thecity. It would draw people to downtown in much greaternumbers than a baseball game in el paso. The baseballidea is a waste for tax payer money and doesn't benefitthe majority of the youth and tax payers in the city.

Advise that they will be a primary tenant and will pay rents for use and access to

facility. City ownership will provide greatest flexibility in terms of opportunities forother uses and rents and related income. In situations where private ownershipinterests occur they usually control access and income to a greater extent. Theownership group is paying considerable money for the team purchase for theopportunity to move to EP and assuming greater than normal risk on return. Thisis not an unusual arrangement.

How is the "El Paso Tomorrow Advisory Committee" constituted? Is it a city entity or aprivate entity? If it is a city entity, how exactly are the members appointed--who decides whothey will be? If it is a private committee, does the city have a contract or some other formallyconstituted agreement to be working with it? If not, is it registered as a lobbyist, or are themembers registered individually as such?

This group is a private advisory committee consisting of DMD, PDNG and other community

members interested in supporting and advocating for the QoL bond election. (This is similar to theQoL Bond Committee in 2000 that was spearheaded by the Chamber at that time. ) Initially came

together to coordinate with city on community outreach and recommendations. The group was

working with Rick Horrow as well. City has not formal contract or arrangement other than staff

worked collaboratively up to the presentation on April 18 with the prelimary bond

recommendations and then again on the final recommendations in May. Staffs involvement has

been limited since then because group was evolving into a Political Action Committee to officially

advocate for the bond election in November at least we believe that is going to happen or is

    happening.

Cannot respond to the issues of registered lobbyist. Would need to contact them directly or

    check.

(Julie, you might want to check with Richarda to see if this group is registered as a lobbyist with

    City. I dont believe so.)

I was checking to see how the site works: who administers the Q&A and how long it takes toget a response. Now that I've got you on the line, here is a stadium-related question. I willalso submit it on the website:

How is the "El Paso Tomorrow Advisory Committee" constituted? Is it a city entity or aprivate entity? If it is a city entity, how exactly are the members appointed--who decides whothey will be? If it is a private committee, does the city have a contract or some other formallyconstituted agreement to be working with it?
