WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?

He Is A Person. The Third Member of the Godhead. - Matthew 28:18-20

He Lives Inside of the spirits of believers. - 1 Corinthians 3:16 He Has Emotions, Will, & Intellect

7 Functions of the Holy Spirit

1) He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and of judgment.

2) He transforms us in the sight of God. 3) He helps us to remember the word of God. 4) He helps us to lead a godly life 5) He gives spiritual gifts to believers. 6) He is our guarantee of eternal life with God. 7) He empowers us to be witnesses.

Two Types of Baptism

There is the Baptism unto Life or the New Birth (Born Again).

There is the Baptism unto Power or the Infilling of the Holy Ghost.

1. Word of God

The Holy Spirit will allows led in line or in agreement with the Word of God.

The Holy Spirit may quicken a particular scripture to you.

The rhema of God is recognized by the logos of God.

We renew our minds with the Word of God. This is the first step in being led by the Holy Spirit.

2. Inner Witness The Holy Spirit will bear witness or agree with your

spirit through the inner witness.

There is an inner intuition or knowing that something is right or in agreement with your spirit.

Some have described the inner witness as a gut feeling. Prayer is key to recognizing the inner witness.

The inner witness of the Spirit can guide us personally in life on issues that the Word doesn’t specifically state such as: who should I marry, where should I work, or where to go to church, ect.

3. Leadings

The Holy Spirit will lead us unto all truth. These include in the Word of God as well as in our daily routines of life.

Leadings of the Spirit or unction's to do something will come through your spirit not your emotions.

There will be a inner witness in your spirit when the Holy Spirit leads you to do something.

4. Check In Your Spirit

Just as the Holy Spirit can lead you into one direction HE can also stop you by giving you a check in your spirit.

A check from the Spirit will usually give you a sense of uneasiness about something. Such as not having peace about an issue or a person.

Being sensitive to checks in your spirit can prevent unnecessary seasons of struggle, pain, and loss.

5. Quickenings

Whenever something in God’s Word is quickened to you it will literally jump off the page at you.

Some have described the quicken of the Spirit as a “leaping” or “jumping” in their spirit.

The key to quickenings is to allow the Holy Spirit to initiate them and not to go looking for them.

6. Visions & Dreams

Another way the Holy Spirit will lead you from time to time is through visions and dreams.

There are four types of visions in the scripture: night vision(dream), open vision, inner vision, and a trance vision.

These are always initiated by the Holy Spirit Himself. Follow his leading first.

Prophetic insight may be necessary to discern the meaning of such visitations.

7. Personal Prophecy

The Holy Spirit may use the gift of prophecy to lead you. This gift may operate through different members of the body of Christ.

Prophecy may confirm or reveal God’s will for you.

Personal prophecies are conditioned upon obedience

New Testament believers are to be led by the Holy Spirit not by the prophets of the Lord.

How To Train The Human Spirit

Four Keys To Hearing God’s Voice

1. God’s Voice May Come Like a Flow of Spontaneous Thoughts, Suggestions, or Ideas.

2. Be Still In Your Soul So That You Can Discern God’s Voice.

3. As You Pray Focus Your Mind Upon Jesus And Upon Key Promises In God’s Word.

4. Write It Down. Keep a Journal or Notebook of What You Hear or See From the Lord. This Will Be of Great Encouragement During Seasons of Warfare and Attack.
