The lightly tapered design with the combination of fabrics offers a history of quick and smooth on-heading openings, with a short snivel. The Silhouette is a shallow trimmed canopy designed for responsive yet non-radical turns and handling with ample flare power.

The Silhouette is a great choice for those seeking a canopy that is practical yet fun to fly.

The Navigator has become the standard for modern training facilities due to its ease of use and student friendly flight characteristics. The Navigator helps train students to learn modern canopy flight because of its clean, smooth, on-heading openings, docile yet responsive turns, and modern day flare performance.

From openings to landings: Stress Free Fun!

The Pulse is a lightly elliptical nine-cell canopy designed for the active intermediate to experienced “fun jumper.” Pack volume has been reduced significantly by combining our proprietary low bulk fabric technology with our well-known Zero Porosity fabric. The Pulse can give you stress free on-heading openings, a very flat glide and nice easy landings. It is highly responsive, very capable, and fun to fly.

The Pulse is a great choice for all types of skydiving and skydivers. It is especially great for wing suiting and big ways.

The Stiletto has a short snivel and a quick, but smooth, staged, and on-heading opening, that is quite responsive to harness input. It has a flat trim with responsive turns, and has a shorter control range than many 9-Cell canopies. The Stiletto has a short recovery arc, and is easy to time the flare for a great landing.

Due to its responsiveness to harness input, the Stiletto was a challenge for skydivers to learn when it was introduced. These same characteristics are mainstream in canopy design today, and canopy pilot skills have grown tremendously since its release. The Stiletto is simply practical and fun to fly for all types of skydivers today.

The Katana is a highly elliptical 9-Cell. It has a long snivelly opening and is very responsive to harness input. The control range is long with a lot of extra lift at the end for great landings. Turns start slow then pick up fast with a lot of altitude loss. The recovery arc is long and requires the pilot to be attentive.

The Katana is a great canopy for experienced skydivers who want more of a challenge out of their canopy flight. It is also a great step before getting onto a Cross-Braced Canopy.

The Sabre2 has a long, snivelly, slow opening that is responsive to harness input. Turn rate is responsive with a long control range. The Sabre2 is a versatile canopy that is docile enough for a properly trained intermediate jumper at light wing loadings, and can be aggressive enough for a more experienced jumper at higher wing loadings.

The Storm has smooth on-heading opening characteristics. It was designed with a shorter snivel for those who like to start flying their canopy more quickly after deployment. The Storm has a long responsive control range with lots of extra flare at the end. It has the reliability of a 7-Cell that thinks it’s a 9-Cell for the modern day pilot.

The quick yet smooth on heading openings make the Storm a great choice for wing suit flyers and other skydivers looking for a fun and reliable canopy.

This is also a very good canopy for casual CRW. It can be ordered with a kit for use as a casual CRW canopy. Contact PD for further information.

This lightly tapered 7-Cell is one of the most popular canopies we have ever produced. The Spectre has soft on-heading openings (with plenty of snivel). It has a high-lift airfoil with tapered ends and a surprisingly flat glide. It is very maneuverable in brakes with a long control range, and has a quick recovery arc. The Spectre is also known as being forgiving of less than desirable pack jobs.

All of these characteristics have made the Spectre a desirable canopy for professional camera flyers and anyone else looking for a predictable canopy to fly.

The Comp Velocity was designed specifically for the competition canopy pilots who are at the very top of their game. This canopy is more solid on rear risers, has steeper dives, and generates more speed in the recovery arc. The VC comes with a removable deployment system along with other key features which aid to reduce parasitic drag. With the RDS and 300 HMA line this canopy is not designed for everyday skydiving.

The Velocity has the broadest speed range of anything PD has built! It is a highly elliptical 7-Cell canopy with cross bracing. It is a very clean wing with a super steep trim. The openings have very slow inflation and slider movement, and are very harness sensitive. The Velocity has the ability to float in deep brakes, and race to the ground in full flight. Turns are crisp and the canopy accelerates in the recovery arc, which generates speed for your swoops and lift for the finish.

Since its release the Velocity has won more medals than any other swoop canopy made. This canopy is ONLY for the most experienced canopy pilots.

PD’s state of the art technology combined with our new proprietary low bulk fabric. The openings are quick and positive; yet so smooth you would never believe it’s a reserve. The turns and handling are conservative with incredible flare power to set you down softly.

The smaller pack volume allows you the opportunity to put a size larger reserve in your existing container.

If you are ready to downsize your main and container, you can put the same size Optimum in the smaller container.

Skydivers who have flown the Optimum have often asked, “Wow! Can I get one of these as a main?”

The PD Reserve opens quick and ready to fly. Just what you want when you need it. This reserve has conservative, predictable handling, excellent glide in brakes, and safe landings. Whether flaring from full flight, or sneaking in to a tight area from a braked approach, the PD Reserve has become known for being the one to rely on.

The Lightning is a highly specialized CRW (CReW) (Canopy Formation Skydiving) parachute. In the all Zero Porosity model you have a great competition canopy and the canopy you want when doing large canopy formations. It was truly designed with all the characteristics in mind for serious CRW competition. All of the World Record Large Canopy Formations in the last 10 years have been on the Lightning. This canopy is not intended for everyday use. For more information contact a serious CRW jumper or a specialist at PD.

Glossary of Terms

Recovery Arc - Is the radius of the arc that the canopy takes to return to full flight.

Zero Permeability - Commonly known as ZP. Nylon fabric with silicone coating that does not allow air to pass through the fabric. Usually found on main parachutes.

Low Porosity - Commonly referred to as “F-111”(which isn’t made any longer). A type of Nylon fabric that allows air to pass through its weaves.

Aspect Ratio - Equations of measure between the span and chord of the parachute.

Span - Distance from wing tip to wing tip.

Chord - Distance from leading edge (nose) to trailing edge (tail).

Control Range - Length of the toggle movement from the start of the canopy reaction to the end of the reaction.

Snatch - Reaction of the pilot chute pulling the bag from the container until the canopy is pulled out of the bag.

Snivel - The time from when the canopy comes out of the bag until it starts to inflate.

Inflation - The period of the opening where the canopy is filling with air and is expanding span wise pushing the slider down the lines. Trim - Angle of the canopy which can determine how fast your canopy comes out of the sky in full flight. Flat trim takes longer time than steep trim, also referred to as glide.

Flare - The amount of lift or stopping power the canopy provides for landing when both toggles are pulled down.

Pack Volume - The area a canopy takes up in the container when packed.

Riser Pressure - Resistance generated when pulling down on the front or rear risers.

HMA - High Modulus Aramid. Kevlar based line that does not shrink or stretch during its life span and has less drag than vectran or microline.

Vectran - Similar to HMA but with a higher resistance to abrasion and more drag then HMA.

Mircoline - Coated Spectra line. Has high resistance to abrasion, but shrinks due to friction.

Hybrid - The name of the type of construction that uses 2 or more different types of nylon fabric to build a parachute.

Taper - Defines the shape of the planform. A gradual decrease in chord length toward the wing tips.

Brake Approach - An approach to landing that is flown with any amount of brakes pulled down decreasing the forward speed.

RDS - Stands for Removable Deployment System. (slider, bag and pilot chute)
