PEPFAR represents the largest commitment by any nation to combat a single disease internationally and to date has contributed approximately $1.9 billion USD in an effort to treat current infections while combating the spread of new ones . With a national adult HIV prevalence rate of 11.5%, PEPFAR works across all 11 provinces and with 92 separate partners. Working through the U.S. Embassy in Maputo, PEPFAR prioritizes high-impact interventions and geographic areas, while focusing on a continuum of response by addressing key and vulnerable populations. PEPFAR’s work in Tete is critical for an AIDS Free Mozambique. PEPFAR Mozambique supports the following partners in Tete Province: Abt Associates, American Society of Clinical Patholo‐gy, Associa on of Public Health Laboratories, Family Health Interna onal, Federal University of Rio De Janeiro, Ins tute Nacional de Saúde,  Interna onal Center for Reproduc ve Health Mozambique, Interna onal Youth Founda on, JHPIEGO, Pathfinder Interna onal, Popula on Services Interna onal, U.S. Department of State Small Grants Program, and U.S. Peace Corps Program. 

An ‐retroviral therapy (ART) for 22,745 individuals  An ‐retroviral prophylaxis for 6,110 pregnant wom‐

en to prevent mother‐to‐child transmission        of HIV  Voluntary medical male circumcision for 2500 men  HIV tes ng and counseling for 144,644 people  Care and support to 60,686 Mozambicans, including 

13,778 orphans and vulnerable children  Training for more than 349 community health work‐

ers  33 treatment sites, 51 PMTCT sites and 3 male cir‐

cumcision sites.
