Fellow Believers in Jesus the Christ,We are asking that brothers and sisters in the faith from across the world PRAY for our Church. We have been in a bat-tle of spiritual warfare for some time now. We are weary, but the TRUTH sus-tains us.

If we had not lived through it, we would not believe it ourselves. It actually sounds like the plot for a sensational Tyler Perry film. This nightmare began when the pastor of another church be-gan worming his way into our church business.

As our beloved Apostle lay dying of cancer, Six Employees (including the janitor and her secretary) claimed to be the elected board of the church and from that moment on, they be-

gan hatching a plan to take over the church. They claimed that as Apostle lay dying unable to communicate (in the middle of the worst economic de-pression since 1929), she gave them raises in excess of $20,000. They claim that she appointed them to the board and removed Chairman William Mead-ows and Anne Wesley who had been on the board for 40 years. They claim that as she lay dying, she removed her only surviving son from the board!!! THEY EXPECT US TO BELIEVE THIS!?

We all know that Apostle was a com-petent businesswoman. She knew the proper way under the law to change the board and this was not done le-gally. Apostle was compromised both physically and mentally, as any cancer patient would be. They took advan-

tage of her. They had her sign a contract giving them the authority to fire her! PEOPLE anyone who stood in Apostle Betty Peebles’ presence for 30 seconds knows that she would NEVER EVER sign a document giving the janitor and her secretary authority over her!!!

The only question that the court is answering is was Pastor Joel Peebles a mem-ber of the board. There are mountains of documents (including their own depo-sitions), which prove that Joel Peebles was and is a member of the board. That’s why the court of special appeals overturned the lower court decision.

Most important is that in their depo-sitions, they admit that Pastor Joel Peebles had long been a member of the Board of Trustees and they admit that their treatment of Pastor Joel was underhanded. Their depositions also state that they are being paid for work that they do not perform. They say that Apostle did not trust them. The proof includes pictures, which are too gruesome to show of Apostle Betty when they and the Freeman’s were supposed to be taking such good care of Apostle. Apostle would not have bedsores the size of a man’s fist, if she had been receiving such good care. Why was Apostle checked into a hospital under the name Betty Wooten (Dee-Dee Freeman’s maiden name)? This made it even harder for the Peebles Family to find their dying mother/grandmother!!!

Now they are making plans to turn our property over the Mike Freeman. Mike Freeman, the secretary and the janitor want you to believe that under their leadership (Jericho) The City of Praise Church Ministries is

in better hands. We beg to differ. We are the 99% and we follow the lead-ership of Pastor Joel Peebles and our board chairman, William Meadows.

Last April when, Pastor Joel Peebles was “fired” by the rogue unelected board, they also excommunicated over two-dozen other church members.

We now worship at Eleanor Roosevelt high school. We are the church because the church is the people. We are the 99% and we worship at Eleanor Roosevelt high school under the lead-ership of Pastor Joel Peebles and Chairman William Meadows.

Rodney Walker thought his mentor Mike Freeman was handing him a readymade mega church. But when our leaders Pastor Joel Peebles and board chairman William Meadows left, we the 99% left with them.

The only time the campus looks full is when they rent it out. They have turned it into a rent-a-center. They’ve rented it out to sorori-ties, for New Year’s Eve Events and for other church conferences.

Open Letter to the Six Unelected Board Members,

Over four months ago, we received letters terminating our membership from the City of Praise Church. You boldly stated that because we did not “accept” you as the board of the church, we would no longer be allowed to attend the church that we have faith-fully served. The major issue in the appeal to the Maryland Court of Special Appeals was the reversal of the summary judgment. And to God be the Glory, the summary judg-ment was reversed in a unanimous decision by three-judge panel. As we continue to read the opinion from the Special Court of Appeals, we are overcome with joy. Today is truly a day to celebrate. Because of court’s decision to reverse the summary judgment of the lower court, we are now able to return to the church that we labored to build. Collectively our membership at City of Praise Church is over 350 years. But understand that our joy is not for ourselves alone. We celebrate the court’s decision for the thousands of brothers and sisters in Christ who chose to leave City of Praise rather than worship under your illegitimate leadership. These faithful servants will also be able to return to their church home. In these months since you stripped us of our membership, we have con-tinued to worship under the Godly leadership of Pastor Joel Peebles and First Lady Ylawnda Peebles. We have learned a great deal from their humility and steadfast de-termination to glorify God alone. They have mirrored the example of Christ by having hearts that forgive. In the 40 plus years of our church’s history, we have never settled disputes in the court. Our hearts still break when we think that you chose to sue Pastor Joel Pee-bles and Chairman Meadows less than four days after our beloved Apostle Betty died. Before she could even be buried, you chose to take her only surviving son to court claiming that he was never on the board and that you were elected by the congrega-tion. We know that this is not true. But because we are following the example of our Pastor Joel Peebles who takes his counsel from the Lord Jesus Christ, we forgive you.

One of the greatest concerns of the People of Praise is the way Apostle Betty Peebles was treated when she was un-der the “care” of the rogue unelected board and Michael Free-man. If they were so concerned for Apostle Peebles’ health and wellbeing why was her daily care so poorly monitored?

The People of Praise has documented proof that while Betty Peebles was under their care, she had bedsores the size of a man’s. If any-one knows anything at all about healthcare and caring for the daily needs of those who are bedridden, they know that it is very difficult to get bedsores this large if the patient is being properly monitored.

It breaks our hearts to think that Apostle Betty Peebles (who took such pride in her appearance and setting an example of grace and elegance) would be left to literally rot in her own skin.

Out of respect for Apostle Peebles and the Peebles family, we will not display the images of the bedsores, but Mike Freeman and your pawns on the unelected rogue board, you should know that we will never rest until the world knows how treach-erous you have behaved towards this elegant woman of God.

Mike and Dee-Dee Freeman make such grand claims about being confidants and protec-tors of (Jericho) The City of Praise Church Ministries. Well let us be clear, we do not need your help. Our ministry has been vibrant for 40 years and it is growing even more under the leadership of Pastor Joel Peebles, Co-Pastor Ylawnda Pee-bles and our longtime board chairman William Meadows.

But if you are so responsible and of such good character, why won’t you answer our questions? One of many ques-tions that we have is, “Where is Apostle Betty Peebles’ jewelry?”

We all know that Apostle Betty Peebles rarely left the house without being elegantly adorned in her lovely jewelry. It was a hallmark of her wardrobe.

Tens of thousands of dollars of jewelry have gone miss-ing and Mike and Dee-Dee Freeman refuse to give an ac-count of what happened to it.

The City of Praise Church began over 40 years ago when Bish-op James Peebles and Apostle Betty Peebles formed a traveling choir. The choir even-tually became what is today the City of Praise Family Ministries.

One of the great heroes of our church is Chairman William Meadows. As people learn about what is going on at The City of Praise, one point that continues to be overlooked is the way Chairman Meadows has been treated.

The rogue unelected board claims that Chairman Meadows willingly signed himself off of the board on which he had served for over 4 dec-ades. Chairman Meadows flatly de-nies this. Who do you believe? Do you believe the man that Apostle trusted with the Ministry for 40 years or these rogue employees who have proven themselves most untrustworthy?

Most of us never knew William Mead-ows’ first name, because Apostle al-ways addressed him as Chairman.

Less than four days after Apostle Betty Peebles died, Chairman William Mead-

ows, her trusted confidant was sued by the rogue unelected board. These unscrupulous characters claimed that Apostle told them to remove Chair-man Meadows from the board and replace him with the secretary, the janitor and others that she did not trust. Mind you all of this happened while she lay dying of cancer unable to speak, let alone make decisions.

As you are praying for our minis-try, please pray for Chairman Mead-ows. He is a founding father of our church and deserves more respect.

On Tuesday January 22, 2013, the Mary-land Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court in Maryland has agreed with the Maryland Court of Special Appeals and has denied the Petition for Writ of Cer-tiorari entered by the six Self-Appointed, Rogue employees. This means that the Court of Appeals of Maryland (the high-est court) will not even entertain the thought of looking at their case. The court said that they saw no issue that would make them think an error oc-curred when the Court of Special Ap-peals overruled Judge Dwight Jackson. It said that he was wrong in giving the six Self-Appointed Rogue employees their summary judgment. They agreed that

there was sufficient evidence to show that Pastor Joel was in fact a member of the Board of Trustees all the time.

Recap: So now you have the two high-est courts in the State of Maryland, more than ten Honorable Judges stating that they do not see any reason why there should have been a Summary Judgment against Pastor Joel Peebles and Chair-man William Meadows.

To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? 8 But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even your own brothers.

In the history of (Jericho) The City of Praise Church Ministries, we

have never taken our disputes to court. Even in a case where the church was clearly defrauded by an unscrupulous contractor loos-ing tens of thousands of dollars, Apostle Betty Peebles understood how counter to Biblical principles such an action would be.

But these rogue unelected board members don’t seem to care. They sued Pastor Joel and Chair-man Meadows less than 4 days after Apostle Peebles died. Be-fore her only surviving son was even able to lay his mother to rest, these jokers had him in court claiming that he was not a mem-ber of the Board of Trustees. We all know that this is a flat out lie. Pastor Joel Peebles has served on the Board of our church for nearly 2 decades. There are countless state, federal and church docu-ments to prove it.

1. They are not the board of trustees. They claim to have been elected by the members of the church and we the members NEVERelected them. Furthermore, in their own depositions, they say that Apostle did not trust them. Why would she appoint them as the board!?

2. Their authority has been rejected not only by the people of the church, but also by Maryland Courts. The Maryland Court of Special Appeals REVERSED the summary judgment issued by Judge Dwight Jackson!! And the Maryland Supremem Court refused to hear their case!
