Our Lady’s Guild The next meeting of Our Lady’s Guild is this Tuesday, June 11th following the 9:00AM Mass. All are invited and new members are welcome.
St. Thomas More Bereavement Support Group
The next monthly meeting is this Friday, June 14th at 10AM at the St. Thomas More parish hall. The meeting will last about one and one half hours. Each meeting will begin with a prayer and introduction by the facilitator. We wish to provide a supportive environment about loss and grief. There will be time for sharing and discussion. Bring your chair and join St. Thomas More Parish on Wednesday, June 19th for Praise & Worship on the lawn of Gazebo Park by the sea wall in Narragansett. Live music will be provided by Ryan Tremblay and his band at 7:00PM. Tremblay is a local jazz trained, full-time musician and Christian recording artist. In January 2019, he performed at the World Youth Day in Panama and has just released his 2nd CD “Trust”. The public is welcome to this free event. Pentecost Sunday
The mystery of the Trinity refers to one God in three persons. We frequently acknowledge
Jesus as ”the second person of the Trinity,” but referring also to the Spirit as a “person” comes less naturally. In religious art, the Holy Spirit
often appears as a dove or, as in today’s reading from the Acts of the Apostles, tongues of fire.
Much rarer are images of the Spirit as a “person” in recognizable human form. Todays’
readings do not settle the issue of how to picture the Spirit, but they certainly give shape to the Spirits’ active power in the world and in each human heart. In Acts, the Spirit enables people to speak and understand a variety of languages. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians
praises the Spirit for all kinds of spiritual gifts, services, and “workings.”·
Finally, in John’s Gospel, Jesus calls the Spirit our Advocate and our divine teacher.
