Pray for our Priests and for Vocations...We were blessed to welcome both Bishop Tobin and Bishop Evans to our parish hall this past Monday so the bishop could address approximately 50 priests. This is something he does every two years. It was a great event and meeting of priests with their shepherd. One of the things Bishop Tobin did was to update us on the numbers of priests, parishes and seminarians. While the future is bright but challenging, he pointed out the large number of “retired “ priests that are central to providing sacraments for the good people of our parishes. We are blessed here with the presence of Msgr. Halloran who many priests say is the busiest priest in South County! Fr. Henry also joined us at this meeting, and it was a treat to see him doing so well on his visit to us from St. Clare Home in Newport. He remains a shepherd to us from a distance no doubt. Fr. Beirne is also in our midst often at St. Veronica Chapel or at Meldgies sharing community. This weekend is the annual Priest’s Retirement Collection. Our retired and faithful priests rely on our support as much as we rely on them for prayers and service. Thank you for your generosity. We also welcomed three seminarians from Our Lady of Providence who came to thank our Knights of Columbus Council for their generous donation from the annual golf outing. I thought it was providential that we would have our bishops and our priests here, followed by the future priests! St. Thomas More Parishioners are loved by their shepherds who share in the High Priesthood of Jesus Christ and they in turn love and serve you with devotion. We are truly blessed! Fr. Taillon

Second Collection this weekend for Senior Priest Retirement Fund

After decades of faithful service, many retired priests continue to serve where they are needed, while others require assisted living, or nursing home care. Since priests are paid a very modest wage, they cannot rely upon Social Security to make ends meet. No longer able to rely upon parishes for basic living needs, senior priests depend on support from this challenged fund. Your generosity will make a difference in the lives of many who have served faithfully for many years in ministry – some of whom continue to serve well after their retirement. The collection is also our way of saying “thank you” for that service. At Masses on this weekend, our parish will join others throughout the Diocese in a collection in support of the Senior Priest Retirement Fund. Please consider a generous donation in support of our senior priests. To learn how this fund benefits senior priests or to make an onlinedonation, please visit http://www.srpriestri.com. Thank you for your support of this worthy endeavor.

Our HAITI FUND Collection was $9176.00.Thank you to all who donated!

Come to a Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat “A journey to healing for anyone after abortion”

Many women and men have walked down the same path as you and have experienced the mercy, compassion and healing power of Jesus through a Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat. A Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat is an opportunity for any woman, man, couple, grandparent

or sibling struggling with the emotional or spiritual pain of abortion. The weekend provides the time and space to enter the grieving process, to identify effects of the

abortion, and to release deep feelings of anger, shame or guilt.
