Suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a mighty wind coming,

And it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

There appeared to them parted tongues as it were of fire, and it sat upon

every one of them; And they were all

filled with the Holy Ghost.

DRESS CODE

We want to foster the greatest reverence and respect for Our Lord at Mater Ecclesiae. Our attire is an outward expression of our love for the Lord and shows how important He is to us. It is also a sign of our respect for the House of God. Therefore, one should always wear their “Sunday Best” to Mass: modesty, good taste and common sense should prevail. Accordingly, the following rules apply: • NO SHORTS, EVER, FOR MEN, WOMEN

OR CHILDREN. • Women: No revealing clothing, low necklines,

short skirts or bare midriffs. Please dress modestly with dignity and self-respect. We suggest that women wear a head covering.

• Men: No tattered, soiled work clothes, old jeans or gym clothes. Please wear “business or business casual attire” to set a good example for our young men and boys.

If you would like to donate any amount towards the altar flowers for regular Sundays, please place the Flower Offering envelope in the collection basket. Each month, the intentions on the envelopes will be remembered.

To donate the flowers for special Holy Days, the cost is $50 per bouquet or vase, or $200 for the four bouquets (2 on altar, 1 for Blessed Mother, 1 for St. Joseph).

The special Holy Days will be listed in the bulletin, like our Choral Masses.

Ember Days are on the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday following the First Sunday in Lent and Pentecost Sunday, during the third full week of September, and after the Third Sunday of Advent. They are days of fasting for the special sanctification of the four seasons and for obtaining God’s blessing on the clergy, for whose ordination the Ember Saturdays are specially set apart. The Propers of the Masses reflect the Season in which they occur and include additional Lessons said before the Gospel.

Confirmation was celebrated by Bishop Sullivan at Mater Ecclesiae on May 21. It was a beautiful evening. Thank you to Mrs. Nonie Burke, our dedicated Eighth Grade Teacher, for preparing the students for the Sacrament. A Special Thank You to Mrs. Jill Rooney who did a wonderful job coordinating the evening of Confirmation.

May God Bless our Confirmandi: Ava Del Palazzo, Angelo Del Palazzo, Karis Dixon, Liam Rooney, Theresa Leary, John Rotondi, Mary Elizabeth Sevold, Evangelia Tonelli, and Christopher Verrecchia.

First Holy Communion was a truly wonderful occasion this year at Mater Ecclesiae. Thank you to Mr. Bill Gedgard, our dedicated Second Grade Teacher, for preparing the students for the Sacrament.

A Special Thank You to the Knights of Columbus, Christopher Schulte and Sally Schulte for their service.

May God Bless our First Holy Communicants: Luke Ablaza, Jonathan Kozikowski, Benedict Kurtz, Juliana Fleming, Marcellina Pagano, and Christopher Petrilli.
