District at a glance
Peddapalli District was formed from the Karimnagar district. The District is
bounded by Mancherial District in the North, Jayashankar district in the East, Karimnagar
in the South and the Jagitial District in the Western side .Peddapalli Town is an
educational and business hub for the Ramagundam and Manthani areas. Peddapalli Town
is well known for its Multi cultural and linguistic diversity. Ramagundam is the largest city
and Municipal Corporation in this District. Peddapalli District is well connected with other
parts by Roads and Railways. The major Rivers passing through the District are Godavari
& Manair. The area of the cultivated land in the district is around 1 lakh hectares. The
majority of the irrigated land is covered under Sri Ram Sagar Project, Irrigation tanks
and Bore wells. The major crops grown are Paddy, Maize, Cotton and chilly. Horticulture
crops of Mango, Tomato, Onion and spices like turmeric and chillies etc., are being grown
in many parts of the district.
Peddapalli District is having abundant natural resources of minerals like coal, lime stone,
granite etc. The Major Industries existing in the District are, Singareni Collieries, NTPC,
Ramagundam Thermal Power Station and Kesoram Cement Factory.

The District has Large and Medium Industries in Mining, Explosives, Power and
Cement with an investment of Rs.6078.83 Crores. Major Industries in the District are
Singareni Collieries, NTPC, and Ramagundam Thermal Power Station. There are 346
micro & small units existing in the district with an investment of 18250 lakhs and an
employment direct employment of 4720.
Total area of the district is 4,614.74 km2 and the Population (2011) is 795,332 District Profile
Peddapalli district is located in the northern region of the of Telangana with latitude
of 18° 37' 0" N and longitude of 79° 22' 0" E.

Medical Facilities
Peddapalli district is having good hospitals and medical facilities in government and
private sector. There are 3 Community health centres , one Area Hospital and 2 TB
hospitals and 21 Primary Health Centre (PHC) working under Government sector and 76
hospitals in private sector.
Major crops
The majority of the irrigated land is covered under Sri Ram Sagar Project, Irrigation
tanks and Bore wells. The major crops grown are Paddy, Maize, Cotton and chilly.
Horticulture crops of Mango, Tomato, Onion and spices like turmeric and chillies etc., are
being grown in many parts of the district

Average annual Rainfall-1043.2mm; Actual rainfall received up to 04-11-2016

Fisheries
There are 567 fish rearing tanks with 13549 hectares of water spread area in the
district. 128 fishermen coop societies are functioning in the district.
Mineral Resources
• Coal: Deposits of coal where known in Godavarikhani near Ramagundam and
exploitation started from the year 1960 and it is non-coking and contains high ash
and moisture.
• Lime Stone: Accures in Takalapalli village.of erstwhile peddapalli Taluk M/s
kesoram cements Ltd presently is mining the deposit near Takkalapally for
manufacture of cement.
Dimension Stone: Coffee Brown variety of dimension stones is under extractions in
Sulthanabad ,Odela and Dharmaram Mandal which is exclusively
having local market only and useful as decorative purpose for
elevations, table tops and kitchen platforms
There are 10 sand bearing area under Godavari river and Manair river
with deposit of 201375 CBM .

Tourism
The Ramagiri fort, also known as Ramagiri Khilla, located over a mountain top in
Begumpet Village of Ramagiri Mandal was built in the 12th Century and good site for
trekking sports and it is famous for abundant herbal medicinal plants.

Resources: (i) Agro Resources
Paddy, Maize, Cotton and Chillies are the major crops. Paddy, Cotton and Maize
are the prominent crops in the district, Green gram, Soya Bean and other food
crops are cultivated in the district. The Gross Cropped Area is 109570 Ha. And Net

Cropped Area is 75574 Ha. The major source of irrigation in the district is SRSP
canals.
(ii) Horticulture
Mango, Lemon are the major crops fruits and Tomato, Onion, cauliflower, chilies
are the Chief vegetables and turmeric, Ginger are the spices grown.
(iii) Mineral Resources
Minerals such as Coal, Limestone, Laterite and other deposits of iron ore
and Steatite are available in the District. Other major constituents are Granite of
various colours and sand occurring in major parts of the district.

Lime Stone : Thakkallapalli village of Anthergaon mandal
Granite : Sulthanabad, Odela and Dharmaram mandals
Infrastructure: Transport :
The District is connected with a network of R&B Roads, Zilla Parishad, Mandal
Parishad Roads, in addition to RAJEEV RAHADARI from Hyderabad to Ramagundam to
cater to the needs of remote and Coal belt areas. Rail Transport system covers (6)
mandals in the district. The district has road & rail transport up to the ports of Vizag and
Chennai. Water :
The principal river flowing in the district is Godavari. The major resources of water
in the district are S.R.S.P canal . The ground water is abundantly available in the district
catering to the needs of agrarian community through Canals, Tanks and Tube wells etc. Communications :
The Communication system has spread to nook and corner of the district. Tele-
density in the district is tremendously increased due to the advent of cellular operators
like BSNL, Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Reliance and Tata Indicom.
Power :
The Major power Plants in the district are N.T.P.C. and Ramagundam Thermal
Power station catering to the power requirements of the district enabling power supply to
the Industrial consumers. There are 67 (33/11 KVA) Sub stations and 5 are under

construction , 5 (133/33 KVA) Sub-stations and 2 (220x/33 KVA) Sub-stations exist in
the district.
Industrial Development Parks:
Industrial development area of 64 plots at Malkapur (V) , Ramagundam(M) was
established with an extent of 52.63 acres and New Proposals :
An extent of 25.97 acres of land has been proposed for establishment of
Autonagar at Kundanpalli (V), Anthergaon (M) and land was taken over by TSIIC
Ltd.

There is an expected demand of explosives due to increase of Production
of Coal by M/s SCCLtd and Cement by M/s Kesoram Industries Ltd. Hence there
is scope for setting up Explosive Manufacturing units Ramagiri and Kamanpur
