Dear DeKalb Resident: The Sanitation Division continues to meet the challenges of an ever-increasing customer base, with a sustained focus on customer service excellence. Reflected in our mantra - A Tradition of Efficiency. Accountability. Resilience. Integrity - the Division continually strives to provide an integrated, streamlined and sustainable business operations model. This approach includes aligning the Division’s administrative and field operations with industry standards and advancements. The introduction of fully automated sanitation collection vehicles in the latter part of 2018 is one such way the Division will ensure consistency with solid waste industry advancements. Environmental stewardship efforts, featuring the residential curbside single-stream recycling program; the glass recycling drop-off program; the electronics recycling program; and customized commercial recycling programs, including a special recycling partnership with the DeKalb County School District, continue to be a focus in 2018. The Division’s focus on fostering environmental change in communities across the County creates a shared purpose of community building, and raises the Division’s awareness for the continued need to empower residents. The Sanitation Division’s mission is simple - to facilitate a cost-effective, efficient and integrated solid waste management program for DeKalb residents and commercial entities. The Division is delighted to advance this mission through various community-based partnerships, and encourages communities to engage in this dialogue promoting the importance and benefits of collaboration. Collectively, we can make a difference. On behalf of our entire Sanitation Division team, we look forward to working with you toward a more sustainable DeKalb in 2018 and beyond.
