Mission Statement Leadership Greater Augusta seeks to develop the

ability of individuals to influence, motivate, and

enable others to contribute toward their own effec-

tiveness and the strength of the larger community.

What is Leadership Greater Augusta?

Leadership Greater Augusta (LGA) is a nine-

month interactive, informative program

designed to strengthen individuals for personal,

organizational, and community leadership.

A full-day opening retreat launches the program

in September, followed by a volunteer service

opportunity, followed by 8 monthly sessions. A

graduation celebration is held in May. LGA

offers existing and emerging leaders

opportunities for skill building and leadership

development. The program includes a

comprehensive examination of the Greater

Augusta region, and encourages participants to

apply their leadership skills through community-

oriented group projects.

Participants work another 50 hours or so on

group projects (with optional team meetings

after morning sessions).

Meet the Leadership Trainer and his Philosophy

Brian McReynolds is an adjunct professor of

Leadership & Management at Blue Ridge Community

College. He is an Engineer graduate of Virginia

Military Institute and is also a Certified Professional

Coach for life skills, career, relationship and personal/

professional development. For the past sixteen years

McReynolds has served as Public Works Director for

the City of Waynesboro with a staff of over 100

people.

Leadership is a lifelong learning project rather

than something that is taken from a class and placed

on a shelf. Because of that, McReynolds teaches a

foundation of human understanding that is rooted in

the Myers Briggs. For each of the learning modules,

he brings the participant back to the most basic level

of motivation: how our personalities affect the way

we perceive work; how we perform; and what we

expect to get out of work. By the end of the course,

each participant will have constructed a personal

leadership notebook and will be able to effectively

apply each leadership tool.
