INDIA is well known for its geographical diversity, its naturalbeauty, its rich culture and its unity in diversity. The people

living in India speak more than 30 different languages and

enjoy their different cultures along with the development in

    science and technology.

    RICH CULTURE

The culture of India is one of the oldest and unique. In India,

there is amazing cultural diversity throughout the country.

There is hardly any culture in the world that is as varied and

    unique as in India.

    BLESSED BY NATURE

India is a vast country, having a variety of geographical

features and climatic conditions. One can experience the four

distinct seasons here: summer, winter, monsoon and post

monsoon. Beautiful sceneries of mountains, plains, forests,

rivers, seas and lakes enthrall the visitors.

    A DYNAMIC ECONOMY

India is quickly emerging as a powerful trade partner in the

global economy. It is becoming a major economic power inthe world today. This itself has been a major cause of

attraction for many international students. Moreover, India's

successful stint with democracy has also been a major

magnetic force for scholars around the world. However, there

are some other advantages that are attracting students to

study in India. Some of these are -

    Low Cost

The cost of education in India is quite low as compared to

many other countries of the world.

    Quality Education

The quality of education is excellent. There are many

educational institutes in India that provide world class

    education.

    Consultation Services

The government of India provides consultation services to

    interested international students through Education

    Consultants of India (Ed.CIL).

International students in India become a part of National level

education systems. The schools in India are recognized by various

educational boards at the state level and/ or at national level. The

education system is 8+ 2 at school level. On completing the school

level, one has to opt for a specific discipline at Higher Secondary

Certificate level (10+ 2). There are three disciplines- Science,

Commerce and Arts. One has to complete Higher Secondary

Certificate in Science stream to enter the Engineering course. The

various boards which offer this certificate are State Level boards

such as Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher

Secondary Education, National Level Boards such as Central

Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of

    Secondary Education (ICSE).

In India, there are a number of colleges affiliated to Universities.

There are central universities, state universities, deemed

universities and private universities The University of Mumbai is a

State University which was founded in 1857. It is a member of the

Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU); Association ofIndian Universities (AIU); Medical Council of India (MCI); and

Distance Education Council (DEC), and is ranked 17 in India and

the first in Maharashtra. All engineering colleges in India need

approval from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)

at National Level, Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) at

State Level and an affiliating University. Every education provider

that recruits, enrolls or teaches international students needs a

special permission from AICTE. This enforces the obligations on

the education provider to meet stringent codes of conduct in order

to be officially registered and promote and enroll, overseas

    students.

After graduation a student is eligible to seek admission in anyuniversity. After completing post graduation, scope for pursuing

research programs in various educational institutes also remains

    open.
